McDonald’s top execs held a ‘summit’ in Washington DC last week. Their guest-speaker-of-honour was President Donald Trump. And he couldn’t help – amid his usual rambling address, delivering a critique of the food…
Trump fed the 2019 US College Football Champions Fast Food at
the traditional White House celebratory luncheon…
Trump bounced widely around the rhetorical landscape telling the McHonchos how often he washes his hands to renaming the Gulf of Mexico to recounting the airstrikes on Iran he ordered over the summer. But eventually, he got around to addressing his love of the company’s food.
“I like the fish,” he said, referring to the Filet-O-Fish sandwich. Witnesses report he then made an ‘odd’ sound effect accompanied by an indeterminate hand gesture. “I like it.”
And typical of Trump’s need to feel superior, he went on to school the McAudience on a deficiency he sees in their Fish burger: “You could do a little bit more tartar sauce, though, please,” he said, adding, “Seriously.”
The President has been quoted over and over again as loving Fast Food. McDonald’s, in particular. He’s been photographed many times chowing down on burgers fries and other junk food delicacies everywhere from the White House to Airforce One.
He even solved a dilemma presented by a White House servants’ walkout in 2019 by sending aids out to round up hundreds of fast food items to fête the Clemson Tigers when they visited in 2019 to cele-brate their national college football championship:
Last year, Trump even mimed working a kitchen shift as a french fry cook and staffing the drive-thru during a campaign photo op at a McDonald’s restaurant in Feasterville-Trevose, Pennsylvania. The mainstream media and meme-artists alike had a field day with that one…
My take
I can’t help but observe that there must be tens of millions of Americans who would rather Trump paid more attention to their dilemma – trying to afford adequate food – than caucusing with the McMandarins.
His performance at the McDonald’s Summit came just days after he publicly claimed to have lowered food prices by more than 25 percent since he took office…
I join the legions of critical thinkers around the world who lament that Trump will never reconnect with reality…
