OREO went for decades without introducing any innovations or new flaours. Then, amid the tumult-uous 20-teens, OREO started to go nuts on new formats and flavours. And it ain’t done yet!
Nabisco has announced it’s prepping no fewer than six new OREO flavours and formats for early 2025. Some are refreshing and creative. Others are… Well… Out of left field. But that’s nothing new for OREOs…
All over the map
OREO’s new products are all over the culinary map – from cake, to candy, to loaded and ‘thins’:
Oreo Game Day Cookies
A limited-edition treat, Oreo Game Day cookies are available now, while they last. They feature, “signature chocolate cookie[s] with five new football-themed [wafer] embossments.”
Oreo Loaded
Oreo Loaded are scheduled to hit the shelves on January 3. “These cookies feature the signature Oreo chocolate cookie with original Mega Stuf level creme, and are loaded with bits of real Oreo cookie pieces.”
Golden Oreo Cakesters
Cakester fans will be delerious to hear that their fave OREO is being adopted as a permanent menu item! “With a twist on the Oreo Golden sandwich cookies, the fan-favorite Oreo Cakesters soft-baked snack is now being offered with creme filling sandwiched between two pillowy golden snack cakes.”
Oreo Irish Creme Thins
Something for the older kids: they feature, “original thin cookies filled with Irish Creme flavored [Stuff],” that includes, “notes of chocolate and vanilla.” Safe and fun for all, these super-sweet treats contain no actual Irish Creme liqueur.
Oreo Minis Peanut Butter
… Are, “bite-sized chocolate cookie[s],” filled with smooth peanut butter creme. That ultra-popular Stuff formulation is all too rarely seen on the OREO limited time rotation!
Oreo Frozen Treats Oreo Bites
… Are described as, “poppable bites,” featuring a frozen dairy creme-flavor base, dipped in an Oreo cookie coating. The ultimate mini frozen ice cream bar?
Oreo Mini Bars
These frozen treats are based on the same frozen dairy creme-flavor base as the Bites, immediately above, with Oreo cookie pieces mixed in.
My take
As we said… Game Day OREOs are out now. All other members of this ambitious ‘mix-and-mashup’ of known and loved OREO flavours and formats are slated to roll out the first week of next month.
I never met an OREO I didn’t love at first sight. But I must state for the record, that I’m also an ice cream sandwich fan. So, the Frozen Treats Oreo Bites and Mini Bars call out louder and more sirene-like to me…
