KFC launches Sauced Wings
In its latest foray into previously unexplored (for them) territory, KFC is trying out new fully-Sauced Wings. For a start, at least, they’re offering Buffalo, Nashville Hot and Honey BBQ Sauced Wings. Apparently these are permanent menu additions, not just limited time specials. Gives a whole new meaning to the catch phrase, ‘Finger Lickin’ Good!’. KFC has been test marketing all kinds of new menu items lately, designed to broaden its appeal and boost sales, not the least of which include a Cheeto’s-crusted Chicken Sandwich, a funky Fried Chicken and Doughnut Sandwich and Chicken Tacos.
Burger King stacks up new Pretzel Bacon King
BK is offering something different for a limited time. The Pretzel Bacon King starts with a Pretzel Bun and a quarter-pound Beef Patty, and tops it with Bacon, Mustard, American (Processed) Cheese and Mayo. Sounds like a nod to Octoberfest, to me… Whatever it celebrates, I’m for it!
Arby’s goes all out for ‘Meatoberfest’
With a special beverage and dessert, and three theme-dressed Roast Beef Sandwiches, Arby’s is going all out to celebrate ‘Meatoberfest’. The drink is a tall, thick S’Mores Shake, well-dressed with Chocolate and Marshmallow chunks, Whipped Cream and Chocolate Drizzle. The Dessert is a rich Cinnamony Muffin that’s part Pull-apart roll. And the Sandwiches include: the Beer Cheese Triple Stack, the Beer Cheese ‘n Double Beef, and the Beer Braised Beef Sandwich. (See picture above.)
McD’s offers old, new ‘Holiday’ season specials
McDonald’s is bringing back its end-of-year holiday Doughnut Sticks and Chocolate Dipping Sauce for a limited time. You can get them in dozen or half-dozen orders, during the breakfast hour. Get some to go with your Cinnamon Cookie Latté next time you pop into a McCafé.
Kit Kat also celebrating the Season with cinnamon…
New Sweet Cinnamon Kit Kats feature the usual crispy wafers enrobed in sweet, Cinnamony Milk Chocolate. It’s a classic holiday flavour combo. They’re here for a limited time only, but you already guessed that, didn’t you? Minis are individually wrapped in cute little sleeves that make them look like elves. Great stocking stuffers!
… Getting together for fall with Horton’s
Tim Horton’s is offering a special Kit Kat collaboration for fall with a three-item menu of fancy beverages including a Kit Kat Latté, a Kit Kat Iced Capp and a Kit Kat Hot Chocolate. They’re here for a limited time only, of course, and Horton’s doesn’t specify how long…
Cocoa Cola takes recycling a step further
Coke says its been working quietly on its own plan to rid the world’s oceans of plastic beverage bottles. Partnering with a collection of small new technology startups, Coke has perfected a way of turning recovered ocean plastic into new bottles, with the objective of reducing the amount of ‘new’ plastic going into the seas. Considering that ecological and industry types estimate something like 8 million metric tonnes of plastic enter our oceans annually, there’s a long way to go. Currently, Coke’s recycled bottle prototypes contain about 25 percent recovered ocean plastic. The first production quantities of recycled plastic bottles are expected to reach stores sometime next year.
