The rundown

Snacks take the cake this week (pun intended). Beverages are also big – in all senses. And Danny Trejo is the new face Del Taco!

Mains

Del Taco and Danny Trejo team up on AL Pastor menu

Yah… It takes a real, tough Mexican hombre like Trejo to truly exemplify the greatness of Al Pastor! Choose from Al Pastor based: Street Taco, Loaded Fries. Epic Burrito or Cheddar Quesadilla. Pair with DT’s new pineapple-themes drinks: Sprite, Minute Maid Zero Sugar Lemonade, or a creamy Mini Shake, all infused with real pineapple flavor and chunks.

Firehouse débuts the Captain’s Sub

The Boss’s boss sub! Built on a regular sub roll (of couese), this stacked monsterstarts with oven-roasted chicken and tops with melted pepper jack cheese, crushed red pepper flakes, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and onions.

And to be sure you get enough sauce: signature Captain Sorensen’s Hot Sauce AND new Firehouse Hero Sauce…

Cici’s poses the 64-slice question

It’s a huge game day pizza designed to feed the whole living room crowd. Piezilla is monster-sized. The classic pepperoni version boasts more than 200 meat dots. But you can order it any way you want. Great for any gathering. And a guaranteed conversation starter. Piezilla is only available for pick-up – because it’s too large for delivery! No word on how long it may be around…

7-Eleven takes Coke-OREO collab a step farther

You’ll recall our story on the epic Coke-OREO collaboration a couple of weeks ago. Now, 7-Eleven is taking it a step farther with a new Coke-OREO flavour Slurpee. “We are thrilled to join forces with Coca-Cola and OREO to create a one-of-a-kind Slurpee drink,” Dennis Phelps, Senior Vice President, Merchandising (Vault and Proprietary Beverage) at 7-Eleven, said in a press release. They also have a good supply of coordinating OREO-Coke cookies in stock…

Burger King pours Frozen Pink Lemonade

It’s officially described as a “sweet & tart pink lemonade with hints of berry, floral, & citrus flavors.” That’s a high bar to clear…

It’s also the official ‘Frozen Drink of MTV Video Music Awards’ airing this week (Septrember 11). Available now, for a limited time, at participating BK locations across the US.

Capri Sun NOT ditching pouches

The popular fruit drink brand is NOT getting rid of its trademark pouches – in spite of a tsunami of rumours in social media land to that effect. Nobody really knows where the untruth started, but it spread like COVID in 2020. Capri Sun was said to be switching to 12 oz. / 355 ml plastic bottles, in an attempt appeal to more adults. It’s a classic kids’ fave. Not the least reason for which, it’s spill-proof…

Baskin-Robbins engages in Monkey business

New OREO Monkey Business ice cream, that is! Imagine: banana ice cream with OREO cookie pieces, and gooey peanut butter swirls. Now imagine it’s the September Flavour of the Month… Well, you don’t have to imagine. It’s here! And it’s the most appealing new ice cream flavour I’ve seen in a long time. BK is also reprising fall-flave Pumpkin Cheesecake and German Chocolate Cake. And launching a non-dairy version of its classic Cookies ‘n Creme.

Novelties

Little Caesar’s offering free delivery

But it’s just until September 15, at participating locations across the US. You just place an order for delivery through the Little Caesar’s website or mobile app and enter the promo code “FREEDELIVERY” at checkout. Good for one use per person, per day. Unlike most ‘$0 Free Delivery’ deals, this one covers both the upfront delivery charge and the often-hidden, mysterious ‘Service Fee’.

And that’s the skinny…

On what’s going to be making some of us a little less prone to take long romantic walks among the fallen leaves in the coming days and weeks. See you back here in 7 for the next melancholy-sweet edition of fast Food Week!
