Mark your calendar… Tim Horton’s annual Camp Day fundraiser is back July 16. 100 percent of the proceeds from the sale of regular and iced coffee will be donated to the Tim’s Foundation summer camp programs…
One constant that has marked the years since Tim Horton’s set up its foundation has been a willingness to back pretty much any kids’ cause that comes knock-ing at its door.
A big one…
Horton’s has its own its own share of kids’ charities, not the least of which is its annual summer camps program for kids who may otherwise not get to go to camp.
This year, the annual in-store fundrais-ing campaign for the the camps pro-gram takes place through the middle of this month, starting on July 16.
Since 1991, Tims, Tims resto owners and guests have raised more than (C)$262 million through Camp Day events to support the work of Tim Hortons Foun-dation Camps, which helps underserv-ed youth reach their full potential,” the official news release says. “An amazing (C)$12.8 million was raised on Camp Day last year [alone]!”
Big lead-up…
“Tims guests can support Tim Hortons Foundation Camps by purchasing a (C)$2 Donation Badge or a Camp Day bracelet for (C)$3, with net proceeds supporting Tims Camps,” the foundation says. A Camp Day doughnut is also available at participating restaurants for (C)$2, with 100 percent of the proceeds from its sales supporting Tims Camps.
As well, a Tims ‘Take 12’ pack includes 12 small coffees along with cups, dairy and sweeteners, so your whole work team or family can support Camp Day.
… Or, you can cut to the chase and find out more about Camp Day, or make a one-time or monthly donation online any time at www.timscamps.com.
My take
One facet of Camp Day that kind of left me hanging was, I can buy a badge or bracelet to support the event. But I don’t get anything for it – aside from the satisfaction of advertising to the world that I supported the program. Kind of like wearing an ‘I Voted’ button on election Day. Maybe next year, or next funsdraising event, Tims could find a more significant way of saying ‘thank you’ such donations… How about (C)$2 (or $3, as the case may be) off a regular Dozen Doughnuts?
Meanwhile… Go on out there and give to Tim’s Camp Day – knowing that you’ve done a good thing.
