…Pizza Hut research reveals that hard-core video gamers overwhelmingly prefer Pizza for their in-play sustenance. But they also overwhelmingly decry the fact that their pizza often goes cold during per-iods of intense play. Enter, the PIZZAWRMR console upgrade…
It’s a high-tech, AI-designed, 3D-printed solution to one of the biggest gripes serious video gamers share. And it’s available courtesy of Pizza Hut and an army of industrial engineers who worked tire-lessly until they perfected it.
Because you NEEDED it…
“Pizza Hut Canada […] has crafted this first-of-its-kind console sleeve to harness warmth generated from gaming consoles during any intense gameplay, ensuring that every freshly purchased Pizza Hut pie stays warm while immersed in epic battles,” the official news release oozes. So far, so good.
One catch…
You have to download the 3D printing ‘pattern’, and ‘build’ it yourself, on your end of the online con-nection.
“Pizza Hut Canada is unlocking the ultimate cheat code by granting access to its copyrighted design. Fans all over the globe can experience a tastier way to enjoy their favourite slices by 3D printing their ultimate PIZZA WRMR™ companion.” Find out more and download the blueprint here.
Not a merch item…?
I’d have thought it would be an ideal ‘companion merchandise’ item to sell at the Pizza Hut online store. But I was shocked to find that The Hut almost exclusively markets merch via partnerships by logowear makers who serve wide ranges of businesses.
In fact, the closest I found to non-apparel Hut merch were a smartphone sleeve, a pair of branded flip-flops, a pepperoni ‘jewel’-encrusted slice pendant, and a classic, retro plastic summer beverage drinking glass. Oh, yah – also stickers. Lots and lots of stickers…
And Pizza Hut Canada, which is sponsoring the console upgrade promo, doesn’t even have a link to any brand-related merch partner.
Another catch?
I guess the PIZZAWRMR would work really well with any older-model game consoles. It’s designed to fit low, flat, horizontal machines. Alas, the newer models seem generally to be oriented vertically, with top-surface heat vents, rather than rear exhaust grilles. Given that the WRMR leverages the con-vection principle to convey heat from the console to the pie…
Anyway…
Unless you have an older, ‘flat’ console, and you or a friend has a suitable 3D printer big enough to produce the largest components of the WRMR, you might just be better off taking a leftover pizza box and a roll of duct tape, and fashioning a custom warming shroud for your particular console.
Just remember, heat rises – so form a sleeve of some kind to capture the heat where it comes out, and direct it to the chamber on top of your game machine where the pizza chamber will sit.
Don’t make the pizza chamber too wide… It might overbalance a vertical console and send the whole thing crashing down. And allow some sort of small vent on top of the pizza chamber so it doesn’t become too hot inside, and overcook the pie. There’s a real risk the crust will get tough, or even downright hard (and dry) if it’s left to warm too long at too high a heat.
My take
Even if you have a suitable flat console… You would probably be able to make your own warming cabinet much cheaper and more easily than downloading and 3D printing the Pizza Hut model.
The Pizza Hut PIZZAWRMR would have been a great idea (as it is currently configured) if it had come out a couple or three years back. But things change at light-speed in the fast-evolving gaming world.
Alas… I have to give the Hut an ‘A+’ for the idea. But an ‘F-‘ for execution…
