Canadians are staunch traditionalists, eh? So when Tim Horton’s decides to add new Timbit flavours, there’s bound to be ‘talk’… For the first time in ages. Tim’s is adding four new Timbits flavours. It’s an update honouring the cultures of Canada, Italy, France and Brazil!
And the talk is all about soccer!
The ‘Tastes of the Globe’ Timbits are a limited-time release. If you were wondering about the signif-icance of the specific countries chosen… They honour leading lights on the world soccer scene. And that’s because it’s the start of the season, and the FIFA World Cup is this summer, in Los Angeles.
A world of favours
The coutry-themed Bits are all delectable up-scale treats:
Canadian Fireworks: A birthday cake Timbit coated in popping candy.
Chocolate Crème Brûlée Filled: A chocolate Timbit filled with Venetian cream and topped with burnt sugar.
Lime Cheesecake Filled: A Timbit filled with lime cheesecake filling and topped with lime sugar.
Cappuccino: A coffee-flavoured Timbit with coffee-flavoured sugar.
Tim’s loves soccer
“Tim Hortons customers can also order a 30-pack of Timbits in a new soccer-themed bucket,” Yahoo! Lifestyle and News Editor Chris Stoodley notes. “It’s a celebration of more than 30 years of Timbits Soccer, a program which the fast food chain has said impacts more than 250,000 youth each year.”
A perfect fit…
Timbits are a perfect fit for folks seeking the ultimate sweet treat to pop while watching the World Cup. The City of Angels will host the tournament from Jun 11 to July 19, with most matches at the SoFi Center. Fan-fest activities will be centred on the LA Coliseum.
My take
I love Timbits! I was delighted when Tim’s introduced them back in 1976 – 30 years ago this year! So there’s ANOTHER celebration to fold into the fray this summer!
