It comes in a Happy Meal Box. It’s a seasonal favourite. But this year it’s bigger than ever, and it’s aimed at adults. Heck, everybody! It’s the 2025 McDonald’s Grinch Meal and almost everybody loves it – except the staffers who have to put it together…
What a great idea! Make a Grinch-themed promotion that targets the whole family! Sell gazilions more of them than whey they were just for kids! But is it essentially naughty or nice?
The new 2025 Grinch Meal includes: Your choice of a Big Mac or a 10-piece McNugget order. Whichever you opt for, it will come with seasoned fries and a pair of special Grinch Christmas Socks.
The only specifically ‘Grinchy’ part comes in with the packet of Dill Pickle Shaker Fries dressing. “Sprinkle the tangy, dill pickle seasoning into the McShaker bag and shake for a bold twist on our World Famous Fries® that will make your taste buds pucker with delight,” the company enthused in its news release.
Great sales…
McFans love them. And they’re ordering them in droves.
“The McDonald’s Grinch Meal is taking everything by storm,” Guillaume Huin, McDonald’s senior marketing director, wrote Friday on X. “Performance levels we have not even seen during the Mine-craft Meal [promotion] or the return of Snack Wrap.”
Bad idea?
But not all fans – much less McStaffers – are happy about the Grinch Meal.
“10/10 recommend. The fries disappeared faster than the Whos’ Christmas presents,” one hard-core McFan wrote on X. Must also be a p0ickle lover, I think. The idea of pickle dry rub on fries doesn’t turn my crank…
… On the other hand
Facebook member, mom Kyla Cooper was less than impressed: “Why did no one tell me that the ONLY “Grinch” thing about this festive scam was a sad little packet of dill pickle seasoning? I paid TWELVE DOLLARS for this scam and it was vile”
Great obsevation about the Grinch socks, though: “Not cute little kid socks, no of course not. Just mens’ size 11 Grinch socks that come up to their THIGHS.”
A host of critics blew up the comments section of Cooper’s post.
But McDonald’s employees who have to put the meals together at the moment they’re ordered sided with Cooper. Their position is nicely summed up in the remarks of one such fry station toiler: “The Grinch Meal is the worst!”
My take
I have to point out that Ms Cooper obviously ‘didn’t get it’, that the ‘2025 Grinch Meal’ was for Adults (too). But that’s just a sidebar to her main complaint. And I’m not ashamed to state that I’m with her.
There’s an old axiom of Biblical origin: ‘A prophet is without honor in her own land’…
