It’s been a busy week in the Fast Food sphere… Mainly, the major players brought back old favourites from their ‘limited-time only’ repertoires – but they’re all pop faves! We feature dispatches from KFC, Wendy’s, Pizza Hut, Little Caesar’s, Burger King and Buffalo Wild Wings…
They’re baaack! Pizza Hut’s popular P’Zones…
KFC brings back it’s take on Chicken & Waffles
Late last year, KFC offered it’s take on Chicken and Waffles for a limited time. So popular was the ‘special’ that it sold out in jig time. So, only months later the KFC C&W menu item is coming back again, this time in a larger format. The new Big Basket contains two Belgian-style waffles and your choice of 4 Tenders, 3 pieces of Dark Meat, or pieces of White Meat. The original smaller platter is also available, along with a C&W Sandwich which uses two Waffles as Bun halves. The C&W menu items are available until the end of April – or until they sell out.
Pizza Hut P’Zones are also back
Remember P’Zones? They were last seen on Pizza Hut limited-time special menus back in 2011. They were extremely popular with a limited audience, members of which have been waiting patiently for them to come back again. I think of P’Zones as ‘grown-up Pizza Pockets’, containing gooey Cheese, and your choice from three filling options: Pepperoni, Meaty, and Supremo. Marinara Sauce for dipping is included.

Burger King brings back, evolves a recent innovation
It was an innovation for them, anyway. Remember Cheesy Tots, the oversized Breaded Tater Tots infused with Cheese that Burger King floated for a limited time last year? They’re back, but better, now infused with Bacon Bits, too.
Buffalo Wild Wings evolves Salsa, Queso
BWW has announced a freshening-up of some of its staple sides: New Tomato-based salsa with Jalapeños, Onion, and Cilantro; New Queso marrying Young Guns Hatch Chile, melted White Cheddar, and house-made Pico de Gallo. (Sounds like overkill to me…); New Ultimate Nachos with a double-layer of the new Hatch Chile con Queso, Pico de Gallo, Jalapeños, Lime Crema, Clantro, and Tomato Salsa. (More overkill?); and a new All-American Cheeseburger featuring two beef patties, Topped with American Cheese,Lettuce, Tomato, Grilled Onions, Mayo, Mustard, and Pickles. A side of fries is included.
We tried the Wendy’s Asiago Mushroom Cheeseburger…
As expected, this limited-time special Burger tasted great – very Meaty, with sautéed Mushrooms and Asiago Cheese. Tons of umami! I also felt the Onions were a thoughtful touch – even though the Onions on my Burger are not Onion Rings as shown in the official picture (see top of page) but more like French’s Onion Crisps, which purists insist upon to top their Green Bean Casseroles. But they tasted good, just the same. I’d order it again in a heartbeat, in spite of the Calories, Salt and Fat involved.
