Beyond plant-based Carne Asada: Now testing at Taco Bell…
Taco Bell débuts Beyond Carne Asada Steak
It’s yet another new plant-based protein option from The Bell. Previous Beyond products have tested well at the Bell. The Carne Asada will start a limited-time test in the Dayton, Ohio, area, starting the middle of next month, ‘while supplies last’. Though NOT gluten-free, it is certified vegan by the American Vegetarian Association (AVA).
Arby’s updates mix-and match deal
…Is now ‘2-for-$7’, up from ‘2 for $6’. A sign of the times, when food prices – particularly meats, are rising at a rate where something’s got to give. And that something is, evidently, the menu price. Interesting to see Arby’s is so attached to its popular deal that it would risk raising yhe price, rather than cancel it or downsize the components to maintain a price more attractive to its fans. I hasten to underline, it’s the right thing you do, to be fair to the customers. The current mix choices include: include the Greek Gyro, Classic Beef ‘n Cheddar, and 9-piece Premium Chicken Nuggets.
SONIC brings back Broccoli Cheddar Tots…
Fans will remember Broccoli Cheddar Tots fondly. For those new to the phenomenon, they’re described by one reviewer as a bit-sized take on grandma’s broccoli cheese casserole.
No two ways about it: there is no other veggie buddy as close to cheddar’s heart as broccoli. There are folks who insist broc-cheddar is better than cheddar fries – or even poutine. And SONIC claims each large order contains a full dietary serving of veggies.
… Intros Baked Cookie Dough Bites
And they’re à la mode! The bite-sized treats are described as ‘edible-raw’ cookie dough fried until crispy on the outside sand gooey on the inside. Maybe the best part? A little tub of soft serve ice cream for dipping…
Apple Fritter headlines new Autumn’s Orchard Collection
Also on the menu: a Maple Pecan Cheesecake doughnut, a Spiced Apple Filled doughnut, a Caramel Brownie doughnut; and a Pumpkin Spice Cake doughnut.
The Apple Spice sinkers can be 0rdred in 4-count boxes as well as singularly. The whole collection can be had in an assorted Autumn Lover’s Dozen. The collection is available now through October 9, so get ’em while you can.
Shake Shack pours new Fall collection
The Pumpkin Patch Shake returns, accompanied by a new Apple Cider Donut Shake and a new Choco Salted Coffee Shake. These special. shakes are a little more than the mainstream menu items in their category at SONIC, but fans say, well worth the extra buck…
Little Debbie unveils Fall ’22 specials
And (no extra points for the correct answer) they’re pumpkin and Pumpkin Spice themed. Half a dozen headliners cover a lot of ground, from brownies, to cookies, to chocolate and vanilla cakes, to rolls.

Hershey’s pops Hallowe’en special offerings
Hershey’s is floating no fewer than 14 Hallowe’en special items – the majority, special editions of it stop selling favourites. Notable among the all-new treats is Halloween Props Milk Chocolate Bars – full-sized bars with a selection different designs embossed on ’em. Select from: mustaches, cat eyes, sunglasses, mouths, fangs, and eye patches. There’s also a Cookies ‘N’ Creme snack-sized ‘Fang’ bar.
The previous paragraph having been written, Hershey’s warns, there may be a serious Hallowe’en candy shortage…
Tostitos Scary Strips back for Fall
They’re basically flat Fritos, ‘designed for dipping’. The flavour of the current version if not described in detail in the official announcement. However, the ‘serving suggestion’ illustration on the bag features Tostitos Avocado Dip…
That could be interpreted as a tip that the Strips are at least medium hot – spicy. For a limited time, at least through Hallowe’en.
