Mains are back in the spotlight this week. And some are definitely aimed at relieving the old ‘Turkey Encore’ blues. McDonald’s unveils a new McValue Menu. BOGO goes big. Firehouse Subs does a French Dip. And BK brings back its popular Melts…
The rundown…
Word of not one but 2 new restaurant chains, from KFC and taco Bell, respectively. And check out our new Events section!
Mains
McDonald’s unveils new McValue Menu
The McValue Menu will encompass all the current individual Value deals, plus an ‘anchor’ Buy-1-Get-One-For-$ platform. Features 4-item breakfast menu, and a 4-iten lunch-supper selection. The an-nouncement does not say specifically, but it appears beverage is not included.
Wendy’s celebrates with 12 Days of BOGOs
The guys who have the meats also have a 12-day BOGO deal. It’s a bit like menu roulette: There’s a featured menu item every day and you can claim a free one of the same item when you but the first at the regular menu price.
Some of the BOGO deal items include: the Breakfast Baconator, Dave’s Single, topped fries, Saucy Nuggs. Others, plus the order in which they’ll be offered, are a secret.
Smashburger briefly Goes BOGO
It’s a standard BOGO deal good for any of its 1- or 2-patty burgers – with a tantalizing difference: No limit in how any times the offer can be used or how many free items you can claim in any single visit. “No limit on number of qualifying complimentary items that may be redeemed with coupon in a sin-gle transaction.” The catch is, it’s available only until December 24, at participating locations. Pull out promo code ‘4031’ when ordering.
Shake Shack does Free Burgers
Get a FREE Shack burger (types vary each day) with any $10 regular menu purchase. The deal is avail-able through the mobile app, the website or in-store kiosk. For take-out or delivery. At par-ticipating locations.
Jack In The Box teases new Wraps
Jack’s may be late to the Wraps War. But the chain has never shied away from a good thing. And they’re jumping in with both feet.
No word yet on what the new sub-menu will feature. But it’s launching right after New Year’s, on January 3, 2025.
Firehouse does a new French Dip
The luxe subs guys are expanding their horizons, offer a new French Dip sandwich. It’s described as: slow-roasted beef, caramelized onions, melted Swiss and Provolone cheese, and Italian seasoning, served on a toasted garlic bread roll. Hot Jus is included for dipping. Sister Erin brought hoke one of the first ones off the cutting board at our local Firehouse. And we both declared it delectable. The Jus is especially beefy…
Burger King brings back Melts
BK welcomes back it’s popular Melts (three varieties) for a limited time, now through the Holidays. Choose from among: the Classic Melt, the Bacon Melt and the Shroom ‘N Swiss. BK’s answer to ‘What’s for supper?’, when you’re tired of ‘Turkey Encore’ post-feast menu. BK Churro Fries are also back for a limited time, in 4-, 8-, and 12 piece orders, while supplies last.
Beverages
SONIC partners with glitzy gals for glitzy season
The gals are Paris Hilton and Richie. And they’re lending their names to 2 new drinks, “inspired by the duo’s larger-than-life personalities, combining bold flavors with a fun, trendy twist.”
The Paris is a pink concoction based on Sprite, and the Nicole is a Dr. Pepper-based blend blend. The occasion is a reunion of the two stars for a new show titled: Paris and Nicole: The Encore.
Snacks
Taco Bell now has Chicken Nuggets
First spotted a few days ago, Chicken Nuggets are now on the menu at Taco Bell. They’re designed to pair with three new sauces: Hidden Valley Fire Ranch Sauce; new tangy Bell Sauce; and Jalapeño Honey Mustard. The crispy 1-to-2-bite boneless nodules will be available at participating locations chain-wide. Alas! for a limited-time only…
McDonald’s answers with $1 McNuggets
McDonald’s has hastily launched an eye-catching special on its McNuggets (possibly in a slap-back at the Taco Bell Nuggets launch). Now through December 30, at participating locations, get a 10-piece order of McNuggets for just $1. The catch is, it’s only available through the mobile app, and only once a week during the official promo period.
Events
Times change…
… And we change with the times. So it is with FFW. We’ve noted over the past couple of months that the Fast Food sphere is hosting may more promotional events and evolutionary moments that it used to. So we’ve added an Events section to make sure none of the most important ones get missed! Be-cause sometimes, an important moment doesn’t involve an actual menu item or brand we can focus on under one of our established headings, above…
KFC elevates Tenders to top tier
Finally! A chicken joint has admitted what I’ve known was a reality for years. KFC has opened a new restaurant chain focusing on Chicken Tenders. I have to say, I think the concept is a bit saucy, in my grandmother’s old, Victorian sense of the word.
With chicken monster KFC thumbing its beak at the competition – which has heretofore relegated the Tender to snack status.’ Saucy’ is the new brand, and the first location opened in the L.A. area area earlier this month…
Taco Bell unfurls new bev-focused resto banner
It’s a bricks-and-mortar confirmation of the popular Live Mas slogan, focusing on beverages and snacks. And it appears to be aimed directly at McDonald’s very similar spin-off concept CosMc’s, The Live Más Café headlines the Bell’s selection of signature coffee drinks…
And that’s the skinny…
… On what’s going to be making some of us softer and more cuddly over the coming days and weeks. See you back here in 7 for the next overstuffed mid-Holidays edition of Fast Food Week!
