KFC adds more $5 Deals
The Taste of KFC deal now includes three choices. Along with the original Two-Piece Drum and Thigh Deal, you can now opt for 8-Piece Chicken Nuggets or a Famous Bowl with a lesser count of Nuggets. KFC is also offering a$10 Tuesday Deal and a $20 Family Deal (details in store). AND… App users can access 5 exclusive deals including free delivery (details in app).
Chick-Fil-A reprises Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken
It’s a Honey Pepper Pimento Chicken sandwich, to be precise. And it’s a fancy-dressed version of the chain’s classic Chicken Breast sammy.
The first variation on the classic. It’s drizzled with honey, topped with pimento cheese and blessed with pickled jalapeños. There’s a spicy variant, too – if jalapeños aren’t enough for you. It subs-in a CFA Spicy Chicken Filet.
Subway floats BOGO deal on Footlongs
Buy one, get one free. But you have to order through the app and plug in the code ‘FLBOGO’ at checkout time. The free sub must be of equal of lesser price than the purchased one. A perfect opportunity to try one of the chain’s 3 new subs: Honey Mustard BBQ Chicken, Spicy Nacho Chicken, or Cheesy Garlic Steak.
Arby’s cracks open the Bourbon BBQ
The guys who ‘have the meats!’ are pouring their signature Bourbon BBQ Sauce again. This time, on a Brisket sandwich topped with Brown Sugar bacon, melted Cheddar and crispy-fried onions.
The Chicken version is identical, with the exception of a crispy-fried Chicken Filet subbed in for the Brisket. Get ’em while you can.
Domino’s cooks up a $6.99 Pizza Deal
The deal, which includes a large 2-topping pie, is good on carry-outs only. Choose a Hand Tossed, Crunchy Thin or New York Style crust. You choose the toppings, too. It’s a pretty good deal, compared to the everyday price for a 2-topper!
McDonald’s ‘Adult Happy Meals’ are here
And they’re headlining collectible cups adorned with your favourite retro pop-culture characters. It’s called the Collectible Meal. The limited-edition deal is available all day, and comes in 3 versions:
You can get a Sausage McMuffin with Egg, hash brown and hot coffee during breakfast hours. After your 11 am, it’s your choice of a 10-piece Chicken McNuggets or a Big Mac with fries and a soft drink.

Starbuck’s updates its Iced Coffee
The premium coffee purveyor has changed it’s classic Iced Coffee recipe for the first time since it intro’ed the menu item – 18 years ago. “Designed with versatility in mind, the new Iced Coffee Blend is delicious either on its own or customized to any customer’s preference,” Starbucks coffee developer Leslie Wolford said in a statement. We’ll wait to see what the fans say…
McD’s Canada says ‘warm up’ with S’Mores McFlurry
Late summer’s cooling evenings are a perfect time for weenie roasts over a campfire – topped off with everybody’s favourite: S’Mores! Now, McDonald’s is blending up its classic S’Mores McFlurry…
… based on vanilla soft serve, with a ‘graham-style’ crumble, mini marshmallows, and hot fudge. it’s the latest in a warm-season series of special McFlurries.
Chick-Fil-A brings back Banana bevs
CFA is bring back its famous Banana Pudding Milk Shake. It’s a whiz-up of vanilla Icedream soft serve, bananas and vanilla wafer crumbs. Topped off with classic whipped cream and a maraschino cherry. There’s also a new Banana Frosted Coffee. It’s described as a blend of cold-brewed coffee mixed with frozen dairy dessert, bananas, and vanilla wafer crumbs. I’m not a big fan of fancy coffee drinks. But I think I’d enjoy this one…

Krispy Kreme brings back Pumpkin Spice Cake Doughnut
Yes. A rare appearance of the CAKE doughnut at the home of the Original Glazed yeastie! And I can’t tell you how much I love Heavily-frosted/glazed cakies!
And this is one Pumpkin Spice application I’ll never tire of. It’s accompanied by a new Pumpkin Spice Latte you can order hot, iced, or frozen. Another precocious Fall seasonal release…
Popeye’s bakes up Chocolate Chip Biscuits
One reviewer says they’re more like scones. But that’s the way I like them… The picture (see photo, top of page) looks just like my mom’s and Grandma’s family recipe, born in the Scottish highlands. I’ve have loved to see it sliced and buttered. But the drippy white icing splash – in companionship with the chocolate chops – makes my mouth water.
Novelties
Domino’s France serving up a ‘Khachapuri’ Dog
Khachapuri is a unique style of flatbread ‘boat’ (usually served with cheese and a cooked egg; sometimes laden with a sausage) which is native to the Asian republic of Georgia (bordered by Turkey, Iran, Azerbaijan, Russia and the Black Sea). If not a direct steal, the Domino’s pizza-dough boat is eerily similar.
It comes in two versions: Original and Cheddar & Crispy Onion. I’ve made Khachapuri. It’s a fun nosh! But there’s a lot of bun involved, compared to the mass of the fillings.
