McDonald’s pulled a ‘sweet’ Father’s Day ad from UK television after legions of folks
complained the restaurant was ‘using a dead boy’s father to sell Burgers’…
McDonald’s Brit TV Ad pulled after complaints
McDonald’s tried one of its sappy ‘feelings’ TV ads in the UK for Father’s day and it backfired bigtime. The ad shows a fatherless boy looking through photos and memorabilia and asking his Mom, “What was Dad like?” The two then wander down to the local McD’s and Mom tells him lots of things… At McD’s, they sit down with Burgers. The Kid is having a Fillet o’ Fish and his Mom says, “that was your Dad’s favourite, too.” Awwww…
Or not. Mothers of fatherless boys across the country flocked to the social media to say it’s bad enough to have no dad in the house on Father’s Day, so stop rubbing it in!
McDonald’s Brings Back Rolo McFlurry
Last time we saw this fan-fave treat was the summer of 2012. It consists simply of McD’s soft serve Ice Cream blended with chunks of Rolo candy. But the combo is superb. It’s available May 24 through September 11.
Quizno’s brings back Pulled Pork for Summer
Southern Style BBQ Pulled Pork and Spicy Chipotle BBQ Pulled Pork sandwiches will be back for a limited time this simmer at Quizno’s outlets across the land.
The regular Pulled Pork sammy features Pulled Pork, BBQ sauce, Yellow Mustard, Mozzarella Cheese, Cheddar, and Pickles on the bread of your choice.
The new Spicy Chipotle BBQ Pulled Pork is stuffed with Pulled Pork, Ham, Bacon, Aged Cheddar, Jalapeños, Sauteed Onions, Lettuce, Tomatoes, Quizno’s signature Batch 83 four-Pepper Chili Sauce, and Chipotle Mayo on Jalapeño Cheddar Bread.
They’re available now through September…
BBQ Pork Sandwiches now at selected Dairy Queens
Dairy Queen is bring back its applauded Kansas City BBQ Pork sandwiches at grill locations. The juicy mouthful features pulled pork, Kansas-City-style barbecue sauce, sliced onions, and pickles on a warm, artisan-style pretzel bun. DQ previously introduced Chicken Bacon Ranch and Turkey BLT sandwiches in its premium line.
Canadians are in luck: You can also get BBQ Pork Poutine at all participating Canuck locations!
Starbucks testing Coffee Ice Cubes
Starbucks is testing Coffee Ice in its cold Coffee beverages. No more melting water ice to dilute your Cold Brews! For a limited time only, for now, at selected locations. Starbucks fans have been asking for these for a long time. Was a limited time test market exercise rally necessary?
Taco Bell Testing Nacho Fries
Take ’em in a sleeve and dip ’em in Nacho Sauce for a quick snack.
Or, have Nacho Fries Supreme, on a plate, smothered in Ground Beef, Sour Cream, Pico de Gallo, and Nacho Cheese.
Or, have Nacho Fries Belle Grande, with the twice the Fries of the Supreme.
They’re being test-marketed now at selected locations in Virginia and California.
