There’s no more-beloved dish in America than Pizza. It comes out on top in all surveys of favourite foods. And it’s been regionalized to suit tastes in every corner of the Union. But that is the favourite Pizza CHAIN in the US?
Polling group YouGov collected data from more than 44, 000 visitors to its online hub CategoryView between March 2025 and February 2026 The question could have been simple and straightforward: “What’s your fave Pizza chain?”
But YouGov posed much more-detailed inquiries than that… “The report spans everything from favorite drive-thru spots to top fast-casual restaurants and pizzerias — including responses to one particularly divisive question: Which fast-food chain makes the best-tasting pizza?”
What they found…
The dynamics of the poll results revealed a taste-preference panorama as broad as the New Mexican desert sky at sunset and as intensely focused as the eye of a hurricane off the Carolinas…
Rather than assuming YouGov was asking for a choice between the Big 5 or 10 mega-chains, respond-ents nominated every kind of pie joint from their neighbourhood/regional spots on up to the multi-nationals.
Key findings:
- Pizza Hut ranked as Americans’ favorite pizza chain, with 19.1 percent of respondents choosing it for the best-tasting pizza.
- Domino’s followed closely at 17.1 percent, driven by strong advertising awareness, word of mouth, and value-focused deals.
- More than a fifth of respondents (21.6 percent) chose a local or regional pizza brand over national chains, suggesting strong loyalty to hometown favourites.

My take
I’m not surprised by the findings o0f the YouGov survey. I would have been solidly in the ‘other local or regional’ camp if I had been invited to contribute to the poll.
Say what you will (and who doesn’t?) – The national brands are spoiled for you, no matter how good their wares may be, once you’ve tried the best of your ‘local crop’. Wherever you may live. I was a Pizza Hut fan for years, until I settled in my ‘new’ hometown, Ottawa, and started sampling the wares of the local joints.
I never looked back…
