Toblerone Bars Have Been Downsized

We’ve told you previously about how makers of many packaged food products have tried to fool us – putting a smaller amount of product in the same sized box at the same price. Now, even Toblerone, a luxury brand that has always sold its chocolates at premium prices, is downsizing is products…

Toblerone - © Darren Staples - ReutersIt’s easy to see that Toblerone drastically reduced the amont of Chocolate
you get for your money in their popular triangular bars.

Toblerone chocolate used to be a treat. Now, it’s a frustrating cheat. They’ve kept the familiar triangular box the same size but they’ve downsized their 400 g bar to 360 g (a 10 per cent reduction in product) while the 170 g bar has been reduced to 150 ( a 12 per cent shrink). As the photo, above, shows, it’s a major change in the look of the bar, and no attempt has been made to conceal the reduction. Fans were livid in their comments on  the Toblerone Facebook page…

However…

Toblerone is not immune to the constantly rising prices of ingredients, labour and other business costs. But it should have at least been honest with its fans, rather than using deceptive packaging to try to conceal the downsizing of its products.
