Yes, the first ‘New McDonald’s’ restaurant is open in St. Joseph, MO, and there are many, many new service tweaks, menu items and decor innovations to get used to. In fact, you may even think you’re not in a real McDonald’s – until you actually taste the food. The building even looks way different…
New self-serve ordering kiosks, new subdued lighting and homey (?) decor.
What more should you ask for? Endless Fries!
One innovation that everyone in St. Jo is talking about is the All-You-Can-Eat Fries menu item. That’;s right. all you can eat for one low price. But how many to you want to eat? This may seem like a great thing. it definitely is for McFries lovers. But you gotta know that McD’s isn’t hurting at all. After Fountain drinks, Fries are their highest-profit food offerings.
What Endless Fries might look like at the St. Jo, MO, McDonald’s of the Future.
Question is, how many McDonald’s Fries are you likely to eat?
Finally delivering on the promises…
We got a tease glimpse back in the sporing about this groundbreaking (literally) new McConcept.
The St. Jo McD’s is a 6,500 sq. ft. monster – although that includes a Play Place. And the Play place is even upgraded with electronic drawing tables and other neat stuff. There’s also a private party room parents can reserve to host birthday and other kid-oriented gatherings.
The dining room is unrecognizable as McDonald’s, decked out in subdued colours and comfortable seats.
The big news is that this location is the first in North America where you’ll order using a touch-screen kiosk. You’ll be able to order custom burgers and chose from a selection of new menu items including new Chicken Sandwiches, Salads and Desserts. And your order will be brought to you by a server. No kidding.
Owner, Chris Habiger told the St. Joseph News-Press: “Today’s customers seek a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. So we’re committed to providing a modern look and feel to this restaurant.”
