Lays, Tostitos, Cheetos, and Doritos ‘Coming Clean’

They’re all Lays’ brands, and they’re all getting an ‘additives makeover’ in the wake of Trump Secre-tary of Health, RFK Jr.’s declaration of war on artificial colours and flavours in processed foods…

Big changes in the works

Pepsico had a whole lot of bad news for share holders in its most recent quarterly financial report. Its sales have been stagnating and it lost its traditional ‘runner up’ (second place spot) in the global fizzy drink sweepstakes to Dr. Pepper earlier this year.

We all expected some major changes in the Pepsi product roster. But many were not prepared for the big announcement last week, that it will revamp it’s starting lineup of Lays products with new form-ulations free of artificial colours and dyes.

In PepsiCo’s Second Quarter 2025 Earnings report, the company announced several innovations it plans to introduce in it’s most popular brands: Lays, Tostitos, Cheetos, and Doritos.

FoodBeast reviewer Ayomari tells us: “Lay’s and Tostitos will be completely reformulated to exclude artificial colors and flavors, but for Cheetos and Doritos, a new dye-free version will be launched alongside the original flavors. According to the report, the new Lay’s and Tostitos will be introduced by the end of 2025, with Cheetos and Doritos to follow.”

In addition, PepsiCo says it will extend its ‘clean’ campaign to all its other brands that contain pro-tein, fiber, and whole grain, switching to Avocado and Olive oils. They’re largely unsaturated fats.

But there’s more…

The company is also removing artificial colours and flavours from all of its products that are targeted to kids, effective ‘this upcoming school season’.

My take

Good for Lays. They’re trying to stay out in front of the Trump Administration’s drive for what the President and his minions feel is ‘right for America’. And, for now, they’re succeeding. If only by a slim lead..
