Fast Food Week  this week features a gala array of new Ice Cream specialties, Starbucks adds Oat Milk to its non-Dairy additives menu, Taco Bell adds new Cheese Curd ‘dippers’, Quizno’s beloved Lobster and Seafood sammys are back for spring, and Buffalo Wild Wings adds Truffle Hot Sauce…

Buffalo Wild Wings adds White Truffle Sauce

I guess it had to happen – but I thought it would come later, rather than sooner. Anyway, BWW has added White Truffle Hot Sauce to its menu for a limited time. The Wings chain claims it’s using actual White Truffle (rather then some kind of artificial ‘Truffle Flavouring’) in its Sauce, in spite of the fact that the chi-chi ingredient can cost more than $2,000 per lb. / $4,500 kg. Truff popularized the notion of Truffle Sauces a few months ago and foodies have been waiting for it to break out into the mainstream even since…

Taco Bell tests Crispy Cheese Dippers

They’re actually Crispy-coated Cheese Curd Bites, served with a creamy chipotle sauce. TB is also testing Crispy Cheese Nacho Fries – Nacho Fries topped with Crispy Cheese Dippers, and garnished with nacho cheese sauce, creamy chipotle sauce, sour cream, and diced tomatoes. This test is very limited, but I predict the new Dippers will appear soon in a much wider, pre-launch test.

It’s Lobster season at Quizno’s

A new Old Bay Lobster Club and the returning Lobster Classic Sub grace Quizno’s limited-time spring seafood options. Both sandwiches are built on Quizno’s familiar Lobster and Seafood Salad. The new Club is topped with Old Bay Seasoning, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and spicy mayo made with Old Bay Hot Sauce. For a limited time, only.

Reese’s PB cups now come in ‘All PB’ version

Iconic Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups have been released in a new ‘All Peanut Butter’ version by Candy Giant Hershey’s. The traditional Chocolate coated Cup has been replaced by a PB Coating and the product is proclaimed on the label as being for Peanut Butter Lovers. Okay. But I’ve always loved PB Cups for their unbeatable, classic combo of sweet PB and Chocolate. I suppose that’s why Hershey’s is specifying the new ones as being for ‘Peanut Butter Lovers’.

SONIC adds new OREO Big Scoop specialties

The Oreo Big Scoop Cookie Dough Sundae and the Oreo Big Scoop Cookie Dough Blast are the latest collab specialties from the iconic burger chain. The Sundae is described as being based on vanilla ice cream and topped with hot fudge, cookie dough bites, and Oreo cookie pieces, all topped off with a scoop of Oreo chocolate chip cookie dough. The Blast blends vanilla ice cream with cookie dough bites and Oreo cookie pieces, then tops it with a scoop of Oreo chocolate chip cookie dough. Available at participating locations for a limited time.

Baskin-Robbins adds new OREO ‘n Cold Brew flavour

BR’s new OREO ‘n Cold Brew flavour Ice cream is the March Flavour of the Month and the latest addition to the BR repertoire. The rich new flavour combo features Cold Brew ice cream with classic OREO Cookie Chunks and a crispy OREO Cookie crumb ‘ribbon’.

M&M’s adds new ice cream sandwiches

M&Ms adds new Mint and Classic M&Ms Candy versions of its ice cream sandwiches, celebrating St. Patrick’s Day and spring in general, for a limited time this month. The Classic Candies version features new Chocolate Cookies studded with classic colours of M&M’s Milk Chocolate Minis candies. Find them alongside your other favourite M&M’s ice cream sandwiches in the frozen treats section.

Starbuck’s adds Oat Milk

The Premium Coffee Giant has added Oatly Oat Milk to the menu. The high-end Milk stand-in is touted as having a neutral ‘milk’ flavour that doesn’t mask or distort other flavours added to it. Check out the Starbuck’s menu to learn more about the new beverages they’ve added, or just specify Oatly as a substitute for regular milk in your fave Starbuck’s concoction.

And that’s the skinny…

… On what’s going to make us all a little fatter over the days and weeks to come. See you back here in 7 for the next edition of Fast Food Week…
