Fast Food Week: Quick Service Resto And Snacks News…

Back to the grind… And I don’t mean Coffee deals! The Fast Food news is filled with specials on Sandwiches that are returning for a limited time – or coming permanently – to menus across the U.S. The star by far is, collectively, competitors to the Chick-Fil-A and Popeye’s bun-based neo-faves launched last year…

KFC Chicken Sammy goes chain-wide

KFC’s is launching its Fried Chicken Breast Sandwich is going chain-wide after a successful market test last spring. Late to the party, but still a stunner, the simple Sammy is KFC’s entrant in the race with Chick-Fil-A’s and Popeye’s (see photo, top of page) similar chicken on a bun fan faves is now going national on the main menu, as fast as suppliers can ramp up production of breasts, buns and pickles. Starting next month, it will be available in two versions; a ‘plain’ Crispy Chicken Sandwich featuring crinkle cut pickles; and a Spicy Chicken Sandwich featuring a Spicy Pepper Sauce.

McDonald’s launches its Chicken Sammy, too

Neck and neck with KFC, McDonald’s is rolling out its Chicken Breast Sammy ‘family’ across the chain by February 28, in regular and Spicy versions, as well as a Deluxe Chicken Sandwich with shredded lettuce, Roma tomatoes, and mayonnaise.

SONIC has specials on Dogs and Chicken

SONIC is adding a Spicy Chicken Slinger to its menu for a limited time now through January 31. It’s the Spicy-Ranch-sauced version of the chain’s Classic Chicken Slinger. At the same time, you can get a Footlong Quarter Pounder Coney dog for $1.99, The deal is a one-time-only offer available through only through the chain’s app.

Arby’s brings back 5 for $10 Roast Beef sale

Arby’s beloved ‘$5 for 10 regular Roast Beef Sandwiches’ deal is coming back for a limited time at participating U.S. locations. It was last here last year at the same time and is always a big hit. Get ’em while you can!

Subway capitalizes on relative market calm

Taking advantage of a short interval of relative quiet and calm in the Fast Food advertising realm, Subway is floating three deals at the same time: the début of new Protein Bowls as well as a limited-time companion promo where you can get a double portion of protein any Footlong sandwich or Protein Bowl for and additional $2. Also, they’re offering 15 percent off the price of their regular Footlongs when ordered via the app or online and quoting “15OFF”.

Denny’s offers free Pancakes

Denny’s want you to use their mobile or online app to order and pay. They’re offering another special now through January 18, a stack of 2 of their signature buttermilk flapjacks – nominally a $2 value –  with any order of $5 or more. Just check the box at the ‘checkout’ requesting your free pancakes.

New Klondike ‘Donuts’ made with Coffee

The granddaddy of the modern-day Ice Cream Bar is now available as a square Ice Cream ‘Donut’ (with hole) encased in hard Chocolate. And it’s being billed as an anytime treat that’s a great, convenient take-with handful of Coffee. Not large by Ice Cream Sammy standards, Klondike insists it’s a great way to quench your Java cravings ’til you can get your regular caffeine hit. In 6-packs topped with White Icing drizzle, in the frozen foods section starting later this month.

Dunkin’s New Year’s Doughnuts celebrate Season

Dunkin’s launching a new Year’s Doughnut – the Dunkfetti – that combines Confetti Cake ring with classic Dunkin’s plain Glaze. One food blogger is quoted as saying, he’s only recently become a Coffee-dunking Doughnut fan, but this combo is particularly yummy. Now ’til January 26, across the chain.
