KFC is back in the Romance business

Remember the special KFC/Amazon partnership for Mother’s Day, 2017, The Tender Wings Of Desire? It was a faux romance novel in which a feisty woman trapped in a ‘blah’ betrothal is reunited with her youth-crush. Now, for the festive season, there’s a mini movie, A Recipe For Sedeuction, described as, “full of mystery, suspense, deception, ‘fowl’ play and – at the heart of it all – love and fried chicken.” The collab with the Lifetime Network is available for streaming at mylifetime.com/christmas-movies, on all Lifetime apps, and on video-on-demand (VOD) platforms. Check out hunky lead Mario Lopez (Saved By The Bell 2020) as a sexier Colonel Sanders, in the steamy trailer, here

McDonald’s Gives You Free Food Gifts for Holidays

McDonald’s is promoting its mobile ordering app with free food give-aways over the holidays. The thing is, the deals are only good if you order through the app, and there’s a catch that requires a minimum purchase of (US)$1. The specials – which reflect the fave McD’s orders of famous movie characters (see photo, above) – change each day from December 14 through December 24), so we assume you can get a new one each day. Cheers!

Pizza Hut celebrates Holidays with Yuletide Family Feast

Remember that special deal from Pizzas Hut last year around this time, which looked like a 3-tier chest of drawers but contained a couple of your favourite Pizzas plus a layer of sides? This year, the Triple Treat Box features two medium one-topping pizzas, 10 Cinnabon Minis, and five savory breadsticks. You can upgrade the Pizzas to, say, pan crusts or add toppings, for a slight additional charge.

SONIC reprises Fritos Chili Cheese Wraps

Order via the app, and you’ll find an option to add onions and/or jalapenos, which may cost extra. A regular-sized Fritos Chili Cheese Wrap, with more filling and a bigger Tortilla, costs $2.99. Again, order via the app…

Popeye’s launches Beignets chain-wide

Just in time for the Holidays, Popeye’s – the folks who officially call themselves a ‘Louisiana Kitchen’ – are launching their much-hyped New Orleans-style Beignets US-wide for the Holidays on December 14. The puff Pastry mini-pastries are a great favourite and trademark dessert/snack in the Big Easy and Popeye’s come stiffed full of melted Chocolate Ganache. Topped with ample Powdered Sugar, they’re touted as ‘the real deal’.

Kellogg’s rolls out new Breakfast Bars

Know someone can’t start the9ir day without a bowl of Frosted Flakes or Froot Loops or is always popping hands-full of one or the other as snacks? Now, they can get their fix an easier way with Frosted Flakes and Froot Loops Breakfast Bars. Each Bar equals 1/2 of an official serving of Cereal, if you’re keeping track. They’re coming a little later this month to an appropriate supermarket aisle near you.

Pokémon Cereal is coming back

Were you one of those folks who shed a tear when Pokémon Cereal was discontinued 20 years ago? Well, 2021 is the 25th anniversary of the initial launch of the at-first wildy popular Breakfast treat, and General Mills is celebrating with a big come-back tour. If you don’t remember the product, Pokémon Cereal is a mix of coloured Corn Pops nuggets with Marshmallow Pokémon figures dotted throughout. Insiders say there may be other Pokémon products coming and going throughout next year.

And that’s the skinny…

… On what’s threatening to make us all a little fatter over the coming weeks and months. We’ll be back in 7 with an all-new edition of Fast Food Week!
