International Alert: Shake Shack UK and Fly By Jing present Chili Crisp Chicken…
KFC finally testing Chicken Nuggets
KFC is finally giving in to years of suggestions (some more like demands) from fans that they offer a Chicken Nugget. The all-white meat chunks will be hand-breaded in the traditional KFC way, with the original 11 herbs and spices. Kentucky Fried Chicken Nuggets are being offered at selected locations in Charlotte, NC, in 8-, 12- and 36-piece orders. We assume all the usual dipping sauces are available.
Intl. Alert: Shake Shack partners with Fly By Jing
The Shack is collabing with Chinese sauce brand Fly By Jing on several Sichuan-inspired menu offerings. All will feature FBJ’s signature Sichuan seasoning. The new Chili Crisp Chicken menu will include Chicken Breast, Chicken Bites and Sauced Cheese Fries. The catch is, it’s only available in the UK (at all locations), now through September 30.
Intl. Alert: Pizza Hut S. Korea fills Deep Dish Bowls
The dish starts with boneless chicken bites tossed in barbecue sauce. They’re served atop a bed of cheese in a deep dish Pizza crust with pineapple and roasted garlic.
You can slice it like a pizza or use a fork to eat the chicken and cheese out of the ‘bowl’. At South Korean Huts until August 15. How about bringing it to N. America, huh?
Heinz pours new sauces
A whole new collection, in fact. They’re starting with Infused Honeys in Hot Chili and Black Truffle, intended as dips and tosses. Crunch Sauces initially come in Chili Pepper, Roasted Garlic, and Mandarin Orange Miso.
They’re for flavouring soups and stir fries. Available now at selected grocery store chains and online at Amazon.
Doritos slides from zippy to tangy
Doritos has been concentrating on building hotter and hotter spicy chips over the past few years, and collabing with other products, sharing its flavours. Now, it appears to be initiati9ng a segue from hot to tangy.
Behold new Tangy Tamarind Doritos! They’re described as a blend of Asian, Hispanic and Indian influences that adds zesty citrus to a modicum of the usual heat. It’s going to be around for a limited time, starting August 15.
Hardee’s fries up new hand pies
Hardees, like many Fast Food chains, offers a limited dessert menu. And like many of those, the menu occasionally includes hand pies. Now, for a limited time, you can get the Peaches and Cream Fried Pie. It’s peach pie filling and cream cheese inside of a crispy pastry crust. While we have your attention, make note that this treat is not available at Hardee’s sister resto, Carl’s Jr.
Krispy Kreme raids the Ice Cream truck
KK is celebrating mid-summer with a new selection of what it calls Ice Cream Truck Donuts. The collection is inspired by classic ice cream truck flavours including: Popsicle Firecracker, Vanilla King Cone, and Creamsicle.
You can 50 percent off a dozen Original Glazed Donuts when you buy an Ice Cream Truck Donut Dozen at participating locations, form a limited time.
Tim Horton’s intros Energy Drinks
With a history steeped in caffeine-based beverages, it’s a wonder Tim’s hasn’t dipped into Energy drinks before now. Enter Tim’s Boost Energy Infusion Beverages, a collab with Red Bull. The initial flavour offerings include: Sunrise Sunset (Raspberry-flavored syrup mixed with Red Bull Yellow Edition energy drink); and Sky’s the Limit (Blue Raspberry- and coconut-flavored syrups mixed with original Red Bull). For a limited time, at participating U.S. locations.
