I’ve heard this one before. Which leads me to believe it may have more than a grain of truth to it. A Northern-Canadian woman recently revealed the food she says has allowed her to live to the age of 100 – and in pretty good shape, too!
Vera Linsinger turned 100 earlier this month. And the CBC was there to record the event…
Vera Linsinger was surrounded by 4 generations of her family to celebrate her 1ooth birthday. And she looked as hail and hearty as any of them.
When asked what she attributed her spry longevity to, she replied without hesitation: Raw Garlic!
Vesinger’s granddaughter Carlina Balan described her venerated elder as ‘one tough cookie’. And suggested Vera still has plenty of good years left in her. “Let’s go another 10 years, if not 20,” Balan cheered.
The whole family gathered at a Winnipeg community centre to celebrate…
On that note…
Garlic has been getting constant credit since the Millennium, for helping folks achieve stronger, bet-ter-balanced cardio and metabolic systems. Garlic may reduce cholesterol, help control high blood pressure, support bone health, and help detoxify heavy metals in your body.
It’s also rich in antioxidants that may help fight dementia and other systemic conditions. And recent research shows that it can actually help you fight a cold. The study found subjects, “who took garlic supplements for 3 months during the cold and flu season experienced less-severe symptoms and fewer days missed of school or work,” according to Healthline.com.
My take
I love garlic. But not so much in the raw state. Fortunately, all the science behind the health benefits claimed for the ‘Stinkin’ Rose’ indicates the stuff is just as good for you cooked.
The good news for folks who hate garlic, raw or roasted, is… There are literally thousands of garlic supplements on the market which bear neither the stigmatizing flavour nor aroma of the blessed bulb in its original state…
So, go forth and enjoy garlic! And live long to tell about it!
