KFC Doubles Down again after decade-long absence
KFC is bringing back the audacious Double Down Chicken Sandwich after a decade’s absence. Fans are cheering and critics are shaking their heads. The sammy is simply an inside-out Chicken Sandwich using KFC Crispy Chicken Breasts as ‘buns’, the decadent treat, ” features two of KFC’s Extra Crispy white meat filets, two slices of cheese, and two pieces of crispy hickory-smoked bacon, with either the Colonel’s real mayo or spicy sauce.” Now through the end of the month, by signing up now for a place on the long, long waiting list.
Johnny Rockets partners with Eggos
Johnny Rocket and Eggos have decided to go steady with new Chicken and Waffle Sandwiches. They start with Homestyle Eggo Waffle buns, add crispy Chicken Strips, then top with Crispy Bacon and a Syrup drizzle.Now through April 30 at a Johnny’s near you.
Chicken Big Mac: “Only in Canada, you say?”
Wow! The official portrait literally makes my mouth water… As you might have guessed, its a Big Mac with Chicken Patties instead of Beef: You’ll find the iconic toasted sesame seed bun, the two patties…
… and dressings including Big Mac sauce, lettuce, processed cheddar cheese, and pickles. For a limited time, starting March 7, at participating McDonald’s restaurants in Canada.
Burger King brings back Melts…
BK is bringing back it’s popular Melts for a limited time starting March 6, 2023, through May 14, at participating locations U.S.-wide. They’re offering 3 three flavours: Classic, Spicy and Bacon. Fans love ’em. You know who who you are…

Meanwhile, BK is also bringing back its novel Chicken Fries in a new Spicy variant. They’re basically BK’s fry-shaped Chicken Nuggets, this time, “seasoned to perfection with a blend of spices that are sure to pack a punch.”
Baskin Robbins invades Chicken space with new flavour
So popular is crispy Fried Chicken that Baskin Robbins has intro’ed a new ice Cream flavour: Chick’n & Waffles. And it’s Flavour of the Month for March! The flavour is described as: “a mouth-watering blend of sweet, savory, crunchy, and smooth all in one bite.”
You’ll see and mouth-feel chunks of waffle flavour and bourbon-flavoured Maple Syrup ‘swimming’ in artificially Chicken flavoured ice cream. To much for me to digest, all blended together like that, I’m afraid…
Krispy Kreme + McDonald’s expand doughnut trial
McD’s and KK quietly teamed up for a test involving sales of KK doughnuts at McD’s stores. A very small test – at just 9 McD’s locations – proved the notion sound. Now, it will be expanded to 150 McSpots across the state. Just three kinds of sinkers will be offered to start: Original Glazed, Chocolate Dipped and Chocolate Filled. Here’s a small but I think significant indicator that the major players in Fast Food are going to be doing a lot of mergers and coops in future to survive the coming restaurant apocalypse…
Canned, flavoured coffees from Dunkin’
The doughnut giant is launching three ultra-portable canned ice coffees. Initial flavour offerings include: Brownie Batter Donut Coffee, Cake Batter Donut Coffee, and Coffee Cake Muffin Coffee. It’s a collab with Coca Cola.
Get ’em at all the usual Coke outlets. Another of these brand crossovers designed to strengthen both brands in tough times when profits are dropping and industry growth is flat.
