Now that I have your attention, I’d like to address a few topical issues… First: The weather forecast for the coming months. Second: The amazing influx of (playful?) requests for Groundhog recipes I’ve received from family and friends over the past few days. Third: My stand on Roadkill, in general…
The eastern-most weather groundhog on the continent… Shubenacadie Sam,
from the Nova Scotia town of the same name. His annual
prognostication kicks off a cascade of rodent-based
predictions about the coming of spring. Or not.
First…
It looks like an early spring on the Atlantic Seaboard. All the recognized Groundhog forecasters in the earliest time zones agree that they saw no shadow this morning. That means an early spring there. Will that also mean a drier season than they’ve enjoyed in the past tear or so? Time will tell. here in the centre of the continent, it looks like six more weeks of winter. Alas. We’ve had it easy up to now – the snowblower has only been started once this winter thus far – but in my experience, March always has some nasty weather surprises in store for our part 0of the world…
Second…
NO, repeat, NO! Groundhog recipes! And, in answer to some secondary queries, I doubt it tastes ‘just like Chicken’.
Third…
Just say NO!
