Way back when we started dedicating Saturdays to this Fast Food Week Post, we explained our rationale. From the questions I’ve been getting lately, it sounds like time for a refresher, and a primer for folks who’ve joined us since the original implementation of the feature… We’ve got the usual News, too!
A sample of what Krispy Kreme is doing, right now, with OREOs flavours…
“Why do you do Fast Food Week?”
Way back when we started dedicating Saturdays to this Fast Food Week Post, we explained our rati0onale. From the questions I’ve been getting lately, it sounds like time for a refresher, and a primer for folks who’ve joined us since the original implementation of the feature.
Simply, When we started up the FFB (Fabulous Food Blog), we used to give a whole daily post to interesting Fast Food news items. But that got to be too much for the system to handle. With all the nutty and often similar Fast Food news stories coming down the wires, we were turning in to the ‘Fast Food Blog’!
So it seemed sensible to choose the crème de la crème of a whole week’s Fast Food News stories and roll them into a sort of Fast Food newsreel. That way, all the announcements and launches and so on in the niche got their (fair and equitable) coverage in this space. Anyway, today is Saturday, as we all know what that means!
White Castle celebrates 100th!
The burger chain, famous for its sliders, is offering a great throw-back deal to celebrate its 100th birthday: 10-sacks of Original Sliders for $5! You can also add 2 small Fries and 2 small fountain fountain drinks at a similar discount.
Little Caesar’s tests Garlic Parm Chicken Pie
Now, that sounds good – in spite of the fact that it doesn’t really sound like a Pizza, at first take… It’s basically a large round Pizza Crust swirled with with creamy garlic Parmesan sauce topped with crispy chicken bites. Another version, the Garlic Parm Crispy Chicken, is built on a base of white sauce topped with crispy chicken bites and a swirl of Garlic Parm sauce. Sounds like a winner-take-all contest to get onto the permanent menu.
DQ brings back Chicken and Biscuits
Mini Biscuits are, in fact, in potentially a number of applications, at Dairy Queen. They’re currently starring in a Chicken & Biscuits Basket featuring either 4 or 6 crispy white-meat chicken strips, 7 warm mini biscuits, fries and gravy. For a limited time only, of course.
McD’s adds Bacon to Breakfast Sammy
McDonald’s is testing a new Crispy Chicken with Bacon breakfast Sandwich in selected California markets. They start with a crispy Chicken Filet on an English Muffin or Biscuit of your choice, then add butter, honey sauce, applewood-smoked bacon. I don’t see why the new combo shouldn’t prove a natural hit…
… Adds Carmel Brownie McFLurry
The new McFlurry Dessert was first offered in Canada back in 2017. Now, it’s available for a limited time in the U.S. They start with vanilla soft serve swirled with brownie pieces and caramel topping. Simple but effective. Love that Caramel topping! It’s available now ’til further notice…
Krispy Kreme has OREOs doughnuts
What do you do when you see two iconic favourites sitting there looking lonely? Put em’ together for a mega-collaboration! For a limited time, KK and OREOS are featuring a pair of OREOs-themed doughnuts spotlighting KK’s new OREO Glaze and OREO Cookie Wafers. OREOs lovers, get in line now.
Birthday Cake on a Stick?
White Castle adds Birthday Cake to its dessert-on-a-stick line, and how cute it looks! It’s vanilla cake with white frosting on a stick (a little, flat ice cream pseudo-spoon), topped with blue, white, and orange sprinkles. It’s the latest in a roster already including Fudge Dipped Cheesecake On-A-Stick, Fudge Dipped Brownie On-A-Stick, and Gooey Buttercake On-A-Stick.
Jet-Puffed rolls out new Bites
Ancient and Venerable Marshmallow brand Jet-Puffed is now offering new coated Bites, in three all-time fave flavours: Coconut, Birthday Cake and S’Mores. Also Jet Puffed Bites, along with Jet Puffed regular and Mini Marshmallows now come in resealable stand-up bags for your casual munching fun. The idea is to preserve freshness (i.e.- that trademark soft texture.)
And that’s the skinny…
… On what’s going to be making some of us a little fatter over the coming spring days and weeks. See you back here in 7 for the next edition of Fast Food Week!
