Fast Food Week: Quick Service Resto And Snacks News…

There’s a wide variety of Fast Food news this week; from Sandwich deals promoting resto mobile apps, to St. Paddy’s Day themed Soft Serve treats. And word is that many Coffee joints that offer discount refills if you bring your own reusable cup have stopped due to the Cornoavirus threat…

I guess big fans and insiders knew… But I only just found out that
Krispy Kreme offers its popular (but rare) Chocolate
Glazed Donuts the first Friday of every month…

Many Fast Food Restos banning reusable cups

It’s seen as a temporary measure, to help avoid the transmission of the Coronavirus, but Starbucks and other take-out beverage joints including Tim Horton’s are suspending their anti-waste programs involving patrons bringing in their own reusable cups and mugs. It’s to protect both their customers and their staff. However, Starbucks will still offer you a $0.10 discount on your beverage if you bring in a reusable cup anyway, to show them you’re onside.

Taco Bel to add Plant-based ‘Meat’ in N.A.

Not too long ago we reported that Taco Bell was testing Plant-based ‘Meat’ products in Europe, using a European line of Meat substitutes called ‘Oatrageous’. Word then was, the chain would bring in Plant-based options in North America, sometime in the future’. Now, the Bell’s new CEO, Mark King, has revealed that the North American expansion will take place within the next year. However, it appears that the Oatrageous products won’t be coming here. King has reportedly been talking with Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods, both N.A.-based outfits that supply the Plant-based needs of most other fast Food chains.

Starbucks adds plant-based menu items

The premium Coffee purveyor has started offering a Plant-based Breakfast alternative called the Beyond Meat Breakfast Sandwich in Canada. It features a Beyond Breakfast Sausage Patty made from Soy, Peas and Brown Rice among other things. Add the usual Fried Egg and a slice of American (Processed) Cheese, and there you have it.

Wendy’s offers Free Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit

Wendy’s promoting both its new breakfast menu and its mobile phone order app with a new deal offering a free Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit Sandwich, one of the new menu items. The catch is, you have to order something else via the app to qualify for the deal, which involves a coupon from the app. For a limited time only at participating Wendy’s locations.

Subway offers 2 for 1 Footlong Subs

Again, it’s a deal to promote the chain’s mobile ordering app. Get a free Sub of equal or lesser value when ordering a regular Sub via the app. And again, it’s a limited time deal at participating locations only.

Pizza Hut débuts new Nashville Hot Chicken Wings

Following the ‘Nashville Hot’ trend that’s been sweeping the Fast Food sphere the past year or so, The Hut is offering its version of Wings, drenched in NH Sauce with a cool Dipping Sauce.  N.H. is situated just above Buffalo Burnin’ Hot on the resto’s heat scale. Get it as regular or boneless Wings.

Krispy Kreme rations Chocolate Glazed

KK offers its popular Chocolate Glazed Donuts the first Friday of every month – only. This has been going on since February, 2o18, and nobody’s made a big deal about it until now. I guess KK rations the treat to make sure the special glow doesn’t wear off. It’s just a regular Donut with Chocolate Glaze, but the sans go wild for it.

Dairy Queen brings back Mint OREO Blizzerd

It’s a fitting comeback for St. Patrick’s Day and it’s here for a limited time only (as usual). OREO fans, don’t miss out!

Panera offers subscription Coffee deal

Panera Bread, the Soup and Sandwich joint that just popped up out of nowhere a couple of years ago and has taken the Big Box malls by store, is offering a Coffee subscription service that gets you one cup of drip hot coffee, hot tea, or iced coffee every two hours during regular bakery-cafe hours, and includes free refills of the same beverage at participating locations. Just $8.99 per month. Sign up at any Panera store or use the online app.

And that’s the skinny…

… On what’s going to be making some of us fatter in the coming days and weeks. Back here in  7 with another edition of Fast Food Week…
