Arby’s out for Big Game
The guys who proclaim, “We’ve Got The Meats!” really come through this month with a new Wild Game Burger. (See photo, top of page.) It’s composed of Venison, Elk and Ground Beef. Can’t imagine how it tastes. I guess we all have to go buy one and find out for ourselves… Besides the patty, you get dark cherry steak sauce, crispy-fried onions, pickles and Swiss cheese. Taco Bell intros new Chicken Enchilada Burrito…
Is it an enchilada or a burrito? The official product photo indicates clearly that it’s a burrito. But its innards call to mind an enchilada heritage: grilled chicken, The Bell’s signature seasoned rice, red sauce, 3-cheese blend, and sour cream.
And it’s just $2 as a member of the TB Cravings menu. Also available: a Chipotle Ranch Grilled Chicken Burrito, a Beefy Melt Burrito, and a Fiesta Veggie Burrito.
… Pays for your Taco Tuesday
Well, they’ll help, anyway. Even if you choose to celebrate the recently liberated fête at another vendor. As of this week, The Bell and Door Dash are partnering to offer $5 off any qualifying order at any participating Mexican resto. Just use the tag TACOTAB when ordering via the website or mobile app. A list of participating restos will eventually be found here.
Shake Shack reprises Hot Menu
Welcome back the SS Hot Chicken Sandwich. And say Olé! to the new Spicy Shackmeister Burger. The Shackmeister is described as: a 100 percent Angus beef cheeseburger…
…dusted with a hot pepper blend, topped with crispy-fried onions, chopped cherry peppers, and Shack Sauce. Also on the limited time Hot Menu: Spicy Fries and Spicy Cheese Fries, both with Ranch Sauce.
KFC blasts out Hot & Spicy Wings
KFC is offering new Hot & Spicy Wings to usher in the new NFL season. It’s a limited-time offer. They’re drummies and flatties double breaded in KFC’s Extra Crispy manner. You get 8 KFC H&S Wings for just $4.99. It’s seen as a swat back at Popeyes’ current Ghost Pepper Wings and Sweet ‘N Spicy Wings deals, which are priced at six for $5.99.
El Pollo Loco now uses real Oaxaca
The trouble with getting and using real Oaxaca cheese outside Oxaca is, it’s not pasturized (so can’t be imported in most places) and it doesn’t travel well. But El Pollo Loco is using the stuff in its Stuffed Quesadillas, returning this fall for a limited time.
Choose from Poblano Chicken, Chipotle Chicken and Shredded Beef Avocado versions. If you’ve never tasted real Oaxaca cheese, the bast way to describe it is ‘similar to fresh Mozzarella’. A great cheese pull, mild flavour and a superstar melting cheese.
Di Giorno rolls out Pineapple Pickle Pizza
For the Heat and Eat crowd: Di Giorno’s is now offering a kitschy new pie topped with pineapple chunks and pickle slices. The base sauce is creamy garlic, and the cheese is Mozzarella. The toppings are not intermingled; there’s pickles on one half and pineapple on the other.
DiGiorno is giving away a limited number of the Pineapple Pickle Pizzas for free on a first come, first served basis, while supplies last, every remaining Tuesday in this month at their online store. General supermarket release expected next month.
Lunchables intros Grilled Cheesies
Lunchables lunch box an snacks packs have been around for some time now. But they’ve been largely limited to small, format servings featuring meat cheese and crackers.

Kellogg’s launches Frosted Chocolatey Chip Pancake Pop-Tarts
Imagine a toaster-ready Pop-Tart filled with real chocolate chips, topped with maple-flavored icing and chocolate chip flakes. Well tell your imagination to stand down! They’re available now exclusively at Walmart, along with Frosted Strawberry Milkshake Pop-Tarts. And they should start appearing at all regular Pop-Tart sources in December.
McDonald’s phasing out self-serve drinks
McDonald’s is phasing out self-serve drinks refills in its dining rooms. The change should be complete across the chain by 2032. It’s all part of the Business Model of the future…
… Under which dine-in customers will become more of a nuisance than a pleasure. But refills will still be free for the asking, at the service counter.
