I think this is the first time in the history of Fast Food Week that the majority of entries feature menu items coming back for a limited time, seasonal splash. We also have a tantalizing taste of the latest from Pizza Hut Sri Lanka and KFC France. And OREO is premiering a new Neapolitan filled ‘waffle cone’ cookie.

Pizza Hut pasta goes al forno
The Hut has unveiled 4 new Oven Baked Pasta bowls: Chicken Alfredo, Italian Meats, Cheesy Alfredo and Veggie. All selections are topped with a new parmesan and oregano sprinkle.
Choose Bread Sticks or Garlic Bread as your side. Available now at participating locations. No word as to how long they’ll be around.
Intl. Alert: France gets new Spicy BBQ KFC
The Kentucky Spicy BBQ Burger, and it features a familiar fried chicken breast filet. Toppings make the burger: barbecue sauce, bacon, crispy onions, pickled jalapeños, and melted cheddar cheese. Here’s another overseas innovation that we want on menus here in North America!
Intl. Alert: Pizza Hut Sri Lanka reprises Birizza
It’s biryani rice in a pizza crust pocket. Like a hand-sized calzone. The fillings come in Butter Chicken Masala and Veggie.
It’s baked, with gravy and Sambal (Indonesian Hot Chili Sauce) on the side for dipping. Sure would like to see this one over here, in the Western Hemisphere, too..
OREO splashes out Neapolitan cookies
A colour burst for summer, OREO has released new Neapolitan flavour wafer cookies. The wafers are Waffle Cone flavoured and there’s a trio of creme stuffings in strawberry, vanilla and chocolate. At all the usual retail outlets, while supplies last.
Klondike discontinues unique Choco Taco
Vanilla ice cream and chocolate are layered in a nifty waffle cone ‘taco shell’. It puts a smile on your face just thinking about it. Now, fans are aghast that Klondike has decided to deep-six the treat to concentrate production on more popular bars.
The Choco Taco has been a fixture on the Klondike menu since 1984. Devotees are already talking about raising a petition to get it back. That approach worked when Taco Bell dared to cancel its beloved Mexican Pizza…
SONIC brings back Shark Week Slush…
It’s an annual tradition to coincide with Discovery Channel’s summer Shark Week festival, saturating the airwaves with just about every shark movie ever made. The thing is a masterpiece of comestible composition. A deep glass of ocean-blue coconut slush is topped with strawberry compote and a couple of shark gummies.
… Mashes up new Churro Shake
It’s a limited-time item, available now through September 22, while supplies last. It’s a blend of vanilla ice cream, caramel and cinnamon sugar…

7-Eleven buys Speedway, lays off hundreds
7-Eleven has purchased Speedway chain of convenience stores. Until the merger, Speedway had been in direct competition with 7-Eleven at gas station locations across North America. Good business decision for 7-Eleven. Probably a cash windfall for the former owners of Speedway. But a disaster for more than 800 corporate employees laid off when the ink was barely dry on the deal. It’s al part of what 7-Elecen brass call a corporate ‘integration process’ designed to streamline the company’s administration. Suddenly jobless former employees are furious.
