‘Incogneto’ Plant-based Chicken ‘tears’ like real Meat
Maker Morningstar Farms claims its new Chik’n Tenders are ‘indistinguishable from [their] animal protein counterpart’ and have a ‘signature ‘just-like-meat’ tear’. Okay. But I’d like to see for myself. They’re appearing now at major supermarket chains near you (across the U.S.) in two flavors: Original and Sweet BBQ.
Taco Bell intros ‘Cravetarian’ Plant-based protein option…
‘Cravetarian’ refers to a new in-house made ground beef substitute made from Chick Pea and Pean protein. It’ being tested in special Tacos that look and taste, otherwise, like Taco Supremes, dressed with with sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese. Still trying to figure out why the Bell is trying out their own Plant-based Meat substitute when they’ve struck a development deal with Beyond Foods…
… Makes Sauce Packets recyclable
The Bell is also testing a new program to make its Sauce packets recyclable. That could, the Taco King claims, divert 8.5 billion Sauce packets used in the U.S. each year away from the landfill. TerraCycle, which runs the Loop recycling service, specializes in developing recycling solutions for materials that normally aren’t recyclable, and converting them into hard plastic. A pilot Program later this year will test the system.
Stouffers teases fans with new ‘LasagnaMac’
Stauffers will christen its new online presence this summer with a very limited give-away of a new product: Lasagna. Described as ‘a layer of Stouffer’s Macaroni & Cheese stuffed between layers of Stouffer’s Lasagna with Meat & Sauce’, a limited number of packages will be given out as part of a contest to run this summer. I think this mash-up could become a new signature product for the ancient and venerable Frozen Food purveyor…
Gutsy Grownups only: Guiness Nitro Cold Brew
It’s Guinness Stout mixed with Nitro’ Cold Brew Coffee described as: “Beer brewed with inhouse roasted Barley. Added Cold Brew Coffee and Natural Coffee Flavours for a delicious blend of Roast Coffee and subtle caramel notes.” There’s also a reference to “Nitrogenated for creamy smoothness” in the small print. I wonder what that is?
