Fast Food Week!

Here we are again, just days before Christmas, and the Fast Food chains are already looking forward to the New Year, trying out a host of new menu items and specials. And, even at this late hour, they’re launching more limited-time Holiday treats…

Popeyes Emotional Support Chicken - 2018 PopeyesPopeye’s Emotional Support Chicken: No problem getting it on  the plane…

Taco Bell unites two of your most loved menu items…

In an unofficial crossover with its cousin, Buffalo Wild Wings, the Bell is offering a new (US)$5 Box of Buffalo Chicken Nachos. They start with their signature Nacho Chips and pile on Shredded Chicken, Guacamole, Pico de Gallo, Spicy Buffalo Sauce, Sour Cream, Nacho Cheese, Refried Beans and a Three-Cheese Blend.

The catch is, this is just a very limited test for now, in Charlotte, North Carolina, starting December 27. They’re also testing a Cheesy Jalapeño version that features Ground Beef and Jalapeños.

…Tries out Beefy Potato Flatbread

This one’s a possible addition to the Bell’s $1 Menu. It features a round Flatbread ‘Taco Shell’ stuffed with Seasoned Potato chunks, Seasoned Beef, warm Nacho Cheese sauce, and melted Cheddar Cheese. Jalapenos are optional. This one is available in the Cincinnati, OH, area. Both the Nachos and the Flatbread are available through the middle of next month.

Domino’s goes big for take-home in Aus

The Pizza chain is offering what it calls The Big One – a Pizza that’s billed as approximately the size of two larges – at participating locations throughout Australia and New Zealand. It’s segmented into four quarters, each dressed differently. Domino’s says the thing can feed up to 20 people.

Just one problem: The Big One is too wide to fit through the doors of some small cars without tilting it, which could cause unintentional blending of the various toppings. The catch: You must order it through the Dominos phone app, and each location will only make two a day, so order early to avoid disappointment. I want to know why they didn’t offer this quirky special everywhere in time for Holiday entertaining? They could sell a gazillion of the things just on the novelty factor alone…

Popeye’s Offering ‘Emotional Support Chicken’

It’s a cute tie-in to the recent spate of dust-ups over airlines refusing to allow some support animals on their planes. The Emotional Support Chicken is a regular Three-Piece Chicken Tenders Combo that comes packed in a chicken-shaped box you can take on the plane to give your fellow passengers and – hopefully – the crew a little giggle. Thing is, it’s only available at the Popeye’s location in Terminal C of the Philadelphia Airport, and only over the Holidays.

Wendy’s brings back the Giant Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger

The beloved GJBCB is back, now through next month, as the star of a new $5 Meal Deal. The Burger features double the Applewood-Smoked Bacon and double the Beef found in the regular JBCB, along with American (Processed) Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, and Mayo. The (US)$5. deal also includes 4-piece order of Chicken Nuggets, Small Fries, and a Small Drink.

Krispy Kreme adds one more Holiday treat

KK is bringing back its popular Gingerbread Glazed Donut now through Christmas Eve only, at participating locations across the U.S. Find the location nearest you at this special Web page.

And that’s the skinny…

…On what’s going to make some of us fatter over the holidays. See you back here in seven for a look at how the Fast Food players bring in the New Year.
