Bad corn crop = higher beef prices

It’s official. Fully 80 per cent of the usually massive U.S. feed corn crop was destroyed by this past summer’s prolonged drought. The Canadian corn crop (with about a third of it harvested) has not been all that bountiful, either.

A corn shortage means a severe shortage of the highly nutritious stuff cattle usually live on on over the winter. And that means a potential shortage of beef on your dinner table and our sandwiches starting sometime later this fall or winter.

We’ll try our best to fend off price increases in our beef-based products for as long as we can. Check back with Maggie J’s Fabulous Blog regularly for breaking Food News.
