Wendy’s coordinates release of Jalapeño Burger and Fries
Wendy’s has added a new Bacon Jalapeño Cheeseburger (pictured above) and coordinating Jalapeño Bacon Cheese Fries to its regular menu. The quarter-pound Burger features: Pickled jalapenos, Applewood-Smoked Bacon, American (Processed) Cheese, Crispy-fried Onions, Cheese Sauce, and Smoky Jalapeño Sauce on a premium Bun. The Fries are topped with Sea Salt, Jalapeños, Shredded Cheddar, Warm Cheese Sauce, and Applewood-smoked Bacon. Have them together and you’ll have had 1,320 Calories worth of Cheesy Bacony goodness – or, more than 2/3 of your daily recommended adult Calorie intake.
BK Popcorn Chicken pops up in Canada
Popcorn Chicken comes in single-bite chunks, as opposed to BK’s larger Chicken Nuggets, and features ‘homestyle seasoned Breading’. You get our choice of Dipping Sauce. As last time these little goodies appeared (in the U.S. way back in 2012), they’re around for a limited time only.
Buffalo Wild Wings brings back BOGO Tuesdays
BWW is bringing back its much-loved Buy One Get One Free nights on Tuesdays. And it’s a permanent addition to the menu. The BOGO deal applies to traditional Wings only, but who cares? BWW offered this promotion for just weeks short of 35 years up to a couple of years ago, when the chain was bought by Inspire Brands, which also owns Arby’s and Sonic, among others, and underwent a major menu and mission overhaul.
McDonald’s testing new McGriddles
McD’s has three new McGriddle Breakfast Sandwiches (see image, top of page) distinguished from it’s regular ones by their Blueberry Buns: Sausage, Egg and Cheese; Bacon, Egg and Cheese; and Sausage.They’re available for a limited time at 100 Washington, DC, area locations. Last time McD’s tested a McGriddle with a sweet side was its French Toast version last year. When will they finally add one or all of these delectable Sammys to their regular Breakfast Menu?
Pringles goes déjà vu with summer flavours
Available for a limited time – like descent summer weather has been this year – Pringles has brought back a flavour that was previously part of a holiday multi-pack special: Mac ‘N Cheese. It’s accompanied by a new one, Bacon, and both are part of a special release through Walmart and Dollar General stores only. For those who thought that the Mac ‘N Cheese flavour in the Thanksgiving ‘meal’ array last fall was either lame or gross, this is not the same product. The much lamented ‘Cheese’ powder has been replaced by one more reminiscent of the stuff that comes with Kraft Mac ‘N Cheese Dinner. If you like that (and who doesn’t?), you’ll like this.
National Hot Dog Day!
We missed National Hot Dog Day earlier this past week. What was I thinking? And before that, on July 4, we failed for the first time in years to cover the Nathan’s Original Hot Dog Eating Contest! Anyway… Miki Sudo took the women’s crown – again – and Joey Chestnut captured the men’s Mustard-Yellow champion’s belt for the ump-teenth time, downing 73 Dogs with Buns in under 10 minutes.
The summer and fall fairs season is just starting. Be sure to have a Dog to celebrate whenever you visit one of these classic events. Nothing says ‘Fair Food’ like a Jumbo Dog with Sauerkraut!
