Papa John’s Pizza to serve up Chicken and Waffles

A Chicken and Waffles Pizza, that is. After weeks of polling patrons on what kind of Pizza the chain should come up with next, Papa John’s has announced a winner: Hot Honey Chicken and Waffles. Apparently, the Pizza Crust will stand in for Waffles, topped with pieces of Fried Chicken and Waffle Crumbles, Bacon, Cheese, and a spicy Honey Drizzle. We’ll see…

M&Ms have been holding an annual new flavour contest for a few years, now. This year, they’re asking fans to vote for their fave from among: Mexican Jalapeño Peanut, Thai Coconut Peanut, and English Toffee Peanut. In  celebration of the international theme of this year’s contest, M&Ms will give one lucky entrant the opportunity to vacation in all three countries. Vote at: www.flavorvote.mms.com, or text “Vote” to 84444 and follow the instructions. You can vote once per day until May 17.

Steak Rattlesnake Fries coming to Taco Bell

The ‘Rattlesnake’ part refers to the spicing on this dish. It’s a basket of regular Fries topped with Marinated Steak, Nacho cheese sauce, Creamy Jalapeño Sauce, and Pickled Jalapeños, providing the ‘bite’. Get ’em wrapped in a burrito for the same price. Starting February 28, available through early April. (Pictured at top.)

Wendy’s Brings back Cod for Lent

For those who observe the traditional Lenten self-denials, Wendy’s offers it’s popular North Pacific Cod Sandwich:  It’s a breaded, deep-fried ‘wild caught’ North Pacific Cod Fillet topped with Creamy Dill Tartar Sauce, three Dill Pickle Slices, and Lettuce on a toasted Bun. At participating locations through Easter.

On the international front: Taco Bell goes Thai…

The Bell has celebrated opening its first Thai location with the creation of a special regional delicacy: The Kickin’ Chicken Taco. It’s a soft-shelled Taco containing a crispy-fried Chicken Strip, Lettuce, Pico de Gallo, and a Two-Cheese blend topped with a special spicy Kickin’ Sauce. Imagine that: Pico de Gallo and Spicy Thai Sauce on the same Taco. How ‘globalistic’ can a menu item get?

…And KFC caters to France

Not content to offer it’s traditional menu items in food-fussy France, KFC has unveiled a special taste of home: A traditional Toasted Cheese Sandwich with a crispy-fried Chicken Fillet inside. It’s topped with melted Cheddar and Mozzarella Cheese and Caramelized Onions. The Colonel Grilled Cheese looks really sumptuous and gooey. Too bad there are no Veggies in sight…

And that’s the skinny…

…On what’s going to be making some of us fatter in the days and weeks to come. Back in seven with another edition of Fast Food Week!
