I came across a great idea-triggering post recently. One which offered ready-to-try alternative burger ideas, many of which appealed to me. Of course, I think everything tastes better on a Sesame Seed bun. But these patties stand out!
The Mushroom & Brown Rice Burger…
Tired of the same old Beef or Chicken or Veggie Burgers? Those so-called classics represent just a few bands on the flavour rainbow! Today, I’ll be sharing some special new burger patty ideas guaranteed to refresh your interest in bun-based cuisine!
Mouth watering and eye-grabbing…
These are true burgers. Not just croquettes or plated-style patties on a bun. And as such, they qualify as ‘new’ in my book, even if they sound vaguely familiar.
In an attempt to help these diverse alternative burger patty ideas coalesce into some sort of coher-ent group, I’ve elected to omit any other common meats – including lamb, pork, and turkey. They’ve all had their day in the burger spotlight, right along with beef and chicken…
Also… I promised ‘no veggie burgers’ in the headline. Some of the ideas I’ll spotlight today do involve veggies, but they’re about as far from the traditional bean- or lentil-based veggie-burger as you can imagine.
A few good bites…
(There’s that US Marines reference again. But it just begs paraphrasing…)
These truly alternative burger patty ideas will knock your taste buds off… To wit:
- Salmon Burgers With Ginger and Quick-Pickled Cucumbers
- Crispy Golden Shrimp Burgers (See photo, top of page.)
- Vietnamese Tuna Burgers
- Seared Squash and Halloumi Burgers
- Halloumi & Sweet Potato Burgers
- Zucchini & Corn Veggie Burgers
- Mushroom & Brown Rice Burgers
My take
I’m always looking for something new to try. Too often, though, the headlines of online posts promise ‘new’ and ‘exciting’ ideas, but deliver only variations of tired, recycled ideas dressed up in the latest fads. The al-ternative burger patty ideas presented here do pass the ‘freshness’ test. And I’m delighted to pass them along to you…
I hope they refresh your interest in the burger concept as vividly as they have mine!
