I’m Sick And Tired Of Being Sick And Tired!’

The title of today’s post comes from an old Monty Python sketch in which the late, great Graham Chapman used it to lampoon a gassy politician. But since the clocks went back, our house has been very much like that in the mornings with the cats’, the dog’s and the humans’ body clocks all out of synch…

I was sick this morning. Sick in body and soul. Sick from my knobbly feet to my wobbly knee to my mildy pre-arthritic hands. Sick to my troubled tummy. I was able to get up ans help Mom get through her morning ablutions and have her breakfast before getting caught up with U.S. President Donald Lame-Duck Trump overnight shenanigans.

But as I sat down to tackle another day’s post, a little voice in the back of my head said, “Nope. Not today. You have to take care of yourself today.’ So I went back to bed, and slept so soundly that, when I woke several hours later, I was in exactly the same position as when I had pulled the covers over my head earlier in the day. But I felt sooooo much better!

Just goes to goes to show how much damage a sleep deficit can do…

Making my ‘breakfast at what for everybody else in my time zone would call ‘Tea Time’, I reflected on what Lady Clementine Churchill used to tell people she was going to have engraved on her headstone: “Here lies a woman who was always tired / She lived in a world where too much was required.”

Anyway… Onward and upward. See you tomorrow, with a real post!
