We all know that spring, itself, is around ‘for a limited time only’, before summer rolls in, in all it’s glory. But this time around, Fast Food Week features a long list of spring specials that will also be gone before BBQ season gets into high gear… And let’s not forget: Mother’s Day is tomorrow!
Shredded Beef Birria Stuffed Quesadilla
As we mentioned earlier this week, in our post about the renaissance of Birria, El Polo Loco has given the shredded beef stew a boost, adding a Shredded Beef Birria Stuffed Quesadilla for a limited time. Birria, Jack cheese, avocado, onions, and cilantro are piled on a flour tortilla and grilled. It comes with what EPL calls ‘birria consomé’ for dipping.
Chipotle tests Garlic Guajillo Steak
It’s a new entrée consisting of steak flavoured with garlic and guajillo peppers, grilled, and topped with lime juice and cilantro. The official photo shows it served on a bed of White Rice with a side of Guacamole.
You can get it for a limited time at selected locations in Denver, Indianapolis, and Orange County, CA.
For the Heat-And-Eat crowd: Pre-Battered Pogos
MorningStar Farms adds a new Pancake And Sausage On a Stick to its Incogmeasto line (see photo, top of page). Incogmeato menu items feature plant-based meat components. The photo on the package shows what looks like a regular hot dog, surrounded in, “a sweet and fluffy pancake shell.” As with other plant-based meat products, the Pancake And Sausage On A Stick boasts 72 percent less fat than a regular sausage.
Shake Shack pours Bourbon
Not literally, but as a flavouring in a new savoury jam featured on its equally new Bourbon Bacon Cheddar Burger and Bourbon Bacon Cheddar Chicken Sandwich.
The Bacon Cheddar Burger is described as a white-cheddar cheeseburger topped with bourbon bacon jam, crispy shallots, and ShackSauce on a toasted bun. The Chicken version drops the shallots and the ShackSauce and adds pickles. At all locations, for a limited time.
Popeye’s heats up its Chicken Sandwich
Popeye’s is spicing up its signature Chicken Sandwich with a new sauce that blends, “creamy herb buttermilk ranch,” with, “zesty and buttery,” Buffalo sauce. The result is the Buffalo Ranch Chicken Sandwich, available for a limited time at participating locations.
Baskin Robins débuts Mother’s Day Flavour
It’s called Breakfast In Bed, and it’s also the Flavour Of The Month. The stuff is composed of buttermilk pancake- and maple syrup-flavored ice creams studded with fluffy pancake pieces, and a blueberry compote swirl.
There’s also the Tall Stack Cake (pictured above) – an ice cream cake made to look like a stack of pancakes, topped with Caramel Praline ‘Syrup’ and a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream ‘butter’.
7-Eleven pours fruity spring beverages
There are 5 new, limited-time bevs on the convenience store’s menu this summer: Salted Caramel Coffee, Lavender Honeybee Buzz, and three new Slurpees: Brisk Blood Orange (a collab with Brisk Ice Tea), Vitamin Water XXX (with shots of acai berry, pomegranate and blueberry syrup), and Mango Lemonade.
Glazed Pull-Apart Doughnuts back at McDonald’s
It’s a fun thing, and a great play if you like licking your fingers. Looking like a big tan-coloured petunia, it’s actually a ring of 6 plain glazed mini doughnuts arranged around a larger centre sinker.
Available for a limited time across the chain. It’ll fill you up at snack time.
