Wendy’s offers 2-For-$4 Breakfast Sammys

7-Eleven extends free Slurpees through July!

On July 11, 7-Eleven will celebrate its 94th birthday. Usually, on ‘7-Eleven day’, the resto chain offers free small Slurpees to members of its rewards club. This year, the celebration will extend through the entire month of July. Starting July 1, the first time they come in for the deal, 7Rewards members will get a special coupon which they will have to show for subsequent freebies.

Arby’s pours $1 Small Floats for summer

The guys who have the meats also have the $1 floats this summer. Arby’s is pouring Small Dr. Pepper, Coke or Barq’s Rootbeer floats for just a buck apiece through June 27. Arby’s float recipe calls for the soda of your choice topped with a generous layer of Vanilla Shake. Hard to tell whether you should use a straw or a spoon – or just raise the whole mug to your parches lips and sip…

Official cookies and crackers of the Tokyo Olympics

Team USA is getting a special commemorative OREO celebrating the Tokyo Olympics this summer. The thing is based on a custom OREOs Olympic chocolate wafer and filled with separate layers of red, white and blue Stuff – and popping candy! OREOs’ parent company, Nabisco, is also floating a special Olympic version of its equally iconic Ritz Crackers. And Chips Ahoy will be getting into the act with special Olympic edition featuring the usual chocolate chips along with red, white and blue candy nuggets. All three products are available now, for a limited time only.

Pillsbury débuts Cinnamom Crunch Rolls, Dough

Tied of trekking to the mall for your Cinnamon Roll fix? Pillsbury has just released a special tag-team duo for summer: Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cinnamon Rolls and Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cookie Dough. Look for the Rolls in the familiar cannister format. At all the usual outlets, for a limited time only.

Hostess launches Cr!spy Minis

Yup, that’s how they spell it. They’re mini wafer cookies that feature two layers of flavored creme and a flavour-appropriate topping. They come in Cookies & Creme and Strawberry & Creme flavours. Look for their resealable standup pouches in the cookie section of your supermarket.

Novelty Alert: KFC UK ‘slides’ out hats and sandals

KFC UK is selling logo ‘Gilligan’ hats this summer. The beach toppers are decorated to look like a KFC bucket on one side, but reverse to display a repeating fried chicken leg pattern. The chain is also selling The Colonel’s Sliders: sandals sporting a red-and-white colour scheme with the Colonel’s trademark face on one and ‘Always Original’ on the other. (‘Sliders’ are what Brits call sandals…) If neither of those items turn your crank, there’s also a personalizable KFC bucket-design mug. But only in the UK. This is another of those ‘Why the heck not here in North America?’ mysteries.

And that’s the skinny…

… On what will be making some of us fatter over the coming lazy, hazy weeks. See you back here in 7 with another sinful edition of Fast Food Week!
