Ready-Breaded SPAM Burgers, anyone?

Not really a Snack and not yet a Fast Food Menu item, the recent sighting of SPAM Breaded Pork Patties in a Fountain Valley, California, COSTCO has fans champing at the bit. The Patties apparently come 9 to a cardboard box (presumably plastic-wrapped inside it) and they were selling for just under (US)$10. Why Breaded Patties? I can see this delicacy showing up in Restaurants and Fast Food joints on a Bun with various toppings and adornments. I can also see it selling out forever in Hawaii, where SPAM is an unofficial National Dish. Hormel Foods, which makes SPAM, has not said when the product will be generally available.

Arby’s brings back 2 for $5 deals

For a limited time (of course) Arby’s is offering a selection of its signature Sandwiches at 2 for $5. Mains available under the deal include: the Beef ‘N Cheddar Sandwich, the Roast Beef Sandwich, the Crispy Fish Sandwich, Arby’s White Cheddar Mac & Cheese, and Arby’s Mozzarella Sticks. The ‘Faves You Crave’ deal is available at participating Arby’s locations.

Impossible Whopper now in 2 for $6 deals

The vegan Impossible Burger-based Whopper is now among the Sandwiches you can select from in Burger King’s 2 for $6 deal. It’s a limited time promotion, of course. All good deals in the Fast Food sphere these days are. Other Sammys on the list are: the Spicy Crispy Chicken, the Crispy Chicken, and the regular Whopper. It’s a great opportunity to try the Plant-based Protein Impossible Burger at a reduced price. It usually costs at least a buck more than plain old real Beef…

Jelly Belly offers ‘adult only’ Jelly Beans

It’s not that they come in ‘interesting’ shapes or anything like that… They’re just hot as Hell and are recommended for people over the age of 13, who can handle the sear. They’re called Bean Boozled Jelly Beans, and they come in 5 flavours including: Sriracha, Jalapeño, Cayenne, Habañero, and Carolina Reaper. You get all 5 flavours in one package which also includes a party game-like spinner which brave contestants spin to determine which flavour they must try next. The ‘challenge’ is a novel take on the now passé pastime of Hot Pepper eating contests. I hope it doesn’t rekindle popular interest the unwise, potentially injurious fad.

World’s biggest Snickers Bar in Book of Records

Candy makers and engineers at the Mars Wrigley plant in Waco, TX, recently unveiled what they say is the largest Snickers Bar ever created. It’s 24 in. / 60 cm  high by 26 in . / 65 cm wide by over 15 ft. / 4.5 m long, and weighs in at over 4,700 lb. / 2,136 kg.

The Guinness Book of Records judge at the unveiling called it ‘incredibly impressive’. It was commissioned for a special Snickers Super Bowl Commercial…

Lakers star gets mug on Lays special flavour

L.A. Lakers Star Anthony Davis is endorsing Lay’s Ruffles Lime and Jalapeño flavour. Davis looks stern – ‘no-nonsense’ stern, not ‘angry’ stern – on the bag, one of three limited-edition designs featuring Davis with different expressions.

Sadira Furlow, VP of Marketing for Frito-Lay North America says: “With the launch of Ruffles Lime and Jalapeño, we translated Davis’ energy and originality into an incredible potato chip flavor that is undoubtedly one of the most innovative flavors in Ruffles history.

And that’s the skinny…

… On what’s making some of us fatter over the next few weeks. Y’all come back in 7 for the next edition of Fast Food week, y’hear?
