It’s nothing more or less than a stunt to elevate a brand name above the competition, but it’s a great, fun idea: Who wouldn’t appreciate an over-the-top collaboration between a NASCAR team and a major Bacon supplier? NASCAR is the pride of the South where some folks consider Bacon Candy…
Smithfield Bacon, a household name in parts of the U.S., is running what it calls its Racin’ for Bacon 1 Million Slice Giveaway this NASCAR season, sponsoring a car driven by star stock pilot Aric Almirola. His Stewart Haas No. 10 Ford Mustang will be festooned with a ‘flame’ motif in which the flames are fashioned from strips of Bacon, and he’ll be racing for you as well as himself. In each of ten sponsored races this racing season, Smithfield will be giving its fans a chance to grab a share of 100,000 slices of free Bacon – if Almirola wins.
All you have to do to enter the giveaway contest is sign up at the official contest website and tune in on Sunday to cheer Almirola across the finish line in the 100bulbs.com 500 at Talladaga.
Almirola is ranked as an outside favourite (fourth overall) to win the race, though he did win it last year, and will doubtless be defending his title with a vengeance.
Think of it…
Three hours, 40 cars, hundreds of left turns and 100,000 slices of Bacon at the 1000bulbs.com 500. What more could a NASCAR fan ask for?
