SPAM hops on the Fall Pumpkin Spice band wagon
You heard right. Not a take-out menu item; possibly a snack, a new limited-time Pumpkin Spice Version of SPAM is coming next month. It’s apparently the same formula as regular SPAM but with Pumpkin Pie Spices. You’ll be able to order the product in two-packs starting September 23 at Spam.com as well as Walmart.com. You may recall that SPAM promo-ed the flavour as a spoof in 2017. Apparently, the joke spurred enough interest that SPAM elected to float a real product this time. But I’m suspicious about the extra long lead time Hormel is allowing between announcement and launch. We’ll keep an eye on this one…
McD’s Canada offers Egg BLT McMuffin…
McDonald’s Canada has a limited-time special going on a new Breakfast Sandwich: the Egg BLT McMuffin. It’s a regular Egg McMuffin with Egg and American (Processed) Cheese on an English Muffin, but they’ve added Bacon Lettuce and Tomato. McD’s also wants to remind you to they use only freshly cracked Canadian Eggs in their McMuffins, and they’ve also signed on to the New Egg Farmers of Canada Quality Assurance program.
…Upgrades its Classic Burgers
McD’s Canada says it’s remastered its Classic Burgers creating ‘a hotter, juicier burger every time’: “Our classic burgers are now hotter, juicier and tastier. They’re grilled in smaller batches, not sitting around waiting for you and we’re serving them up on warmer buns. What hasn’t changed is our commitment to using 100% Canadian beef with absolutely no artificial preservatives, flavours, colours or fillers. We think this makes for our best burgers ever.” They’re now available at participating locations across Canada and we hope they’ll be at all locations soon.
KFC adds Mac ‘N Cheese Bowls
KFC is offering 2 new Mac & Cheese Bowls showcasing their Popcorn Chicken. There’s a regular version with Mac & Cheese topped with Popcorn Chicken and a Three-Cheese Blend, or you can get a spicy version in which the Chicken is tossed in KFC’s Nashville Hot Sauce. It’s around for a limited time only, as part of a $5 Fill Up deal accompanied by a medium Fountain Beverage and a Big Chocolate Cookie.
Little Caesar’s launches new 4×4 Pizza concept
Remember the Little Caesar’s Quattro-Crust Pizza? Now, Caesar’s is rolling out a further refinement on the multi-topping Pie with a creation that features 4 different quarters, each with its own toppings. You get: 1/4 Regular Pepperoni, 1/4 Sausage and Bruschetta, 1/4 Sausage and Pepperoni, and 1/4 Classic Cheese. It’s part o the Hot N’ Ready menu, so there’s no customization of ingredients, but at least you won’t have to wait for them to make one for you. As usual, it’s available for a limited time only.
Planters brings back Cheez Balls to stay
Planter’s iconic Cheez Balls made a brief appearance last year (just to stir up some nostalgia) and quickly sold out. Now, after months of frenzied preparation, the Cheezies-like snack is coming back permanently. You can also get a side-shaker of the Cheez Powder the Balls come dredged in. Enter the launch promo contest now until September 1 by tweeting @MRPEANUT what food you would most like to sprinkle the Cheez Powder on, and include #CheezBallContest. The winner gets a free, commemorative bottle.
