Fast Food Week! Quick Serve Resto And Snacks News…

‘Tis the season for summer special Meal Deals, apparently, as well as a whole array of new limited time market tests and returns for various menu items. Burger King, Little Caesar’s, Canada Dry and IKEA all weigh in. And don’t miss our report on a new high-profile Miller Lite Beer can promo…

The Miller Lite Cantroller really is a fully-functional computer game controller
concealed in a Beer can. For now, only 200 have been released,
as prizes in a special contest. No word whether it’ll
be available in stores anytime soon…

Have your Beer and play it, too!

The Miller Brewing Company has released a first: A Beer can with a built-in wireless game controller. It’s a real controller with surface-mounted buttons and the electronics – including a Bluetooth transceiver – concealed in the base. The quirky device premiered this past week at a special event in Los Angeles and 200 ‘Cantrollers’ were available as prizes for the first 200 members of the public to beat special guest gamer comedian Eric Andre. The Cantroller is not available in stores, but may be in future.

Little Caesar’s test new Chorizo Quesadilla Pizza

The new Pie is being offered for a limited time the Reno-Carson City region of Nevada. It’s testing in parallel with LC’s new Quattro Crust Pizza, which we told you about last week in this space. It’s a large thin-crust Pie featuring a wide Cheddar Cheese encrusted edge band and topped in the middle with Queso Sauce, Chorizo Sausage, a blend of Cheeses, and Pico de Gallo.

Burger King offers a selection of Whopper Meals…

BK is adding $4$-$5-$6 Whopper meal deals to its menu for a limited time. You get a value-size fountain Drink and Fries with each combo. The three prices get you a Junior Whopper, a regular Whopper or a Double Whopper, respectively. Not a lot new or exciting here except the price…

…And an array of Deals in Canada

Leading the current BK ‘Deals Menu’ in the Great White North is a (C)$4.99 King Meal Deal including a Small fountain Drink, a Small Fries, and any two of a Chicken Junior or a Cheeseburger. Mix or match your pair. It’s for a limited time only, of course. Great for feeding two small children without having to finish their meal yourself. Get details on all the current deals at: https://burgerking.ca/offers.

IKEA jumps on Plant-based ‘Meats’  bandwagon

It’s natural that the Swedish furniture retail giant features Swedish Meatballs (picture, top of page)on the menu at its instore Quick Service Restaurants, but no one was expecting it to offer a Vegan version. Nevertheless, IKEA now says it’s working on developing ‘Meatlessballs’ made from Plant-based Proteins. Yes, they will be Vegan, IKEA assures. The only drawback seems to be, you’ll have to wait until 2020 to try them…

Canada Dry giving away free Drinks

In the first new promo campaign following a scandal over the actual Real Ginger content (almost none) of its Ginger Ales, Canada Dry is offering folks free Ginger Ale or Lemonade if they’ll dare to visit one of American’s most-stressful places on any Thursday this month, and post their feat on social media. Those locations include: New York City: Times Square; Chicago: The Loop; San Francisco: The Tenderloin District; Los Angeles: Hollywood and Highland Center; Dallas: DFW Airport; and Miami: South Beach. Just take a geo-tagged selfie at any of those spots and post to Instagram including the tag: @CanadaDryGingerAle, and #CDThirstyThursday and #promo. You’ll get a coupon for a free 12-pack of either Ginger Ale or Lemonade, while supplies last.

And that’s the skinny…

…On what will be making some of a little fatter over the coming days and weeks. Be sure to look in on the FFB next Saturday for a new edition of Fast Food Week!
