This past week has been a busy one for us here at Maggie J.’s FFB. It’s time for spring cleanup in the garden, and deciding what to plant. Oddly, this is a time when long hours setting the stage for the harvest later in the season makes it more likely that we’ll order something in for supper…
Arby’s Pecan Chicken Salad Sandwich: Back for summer.
I must have missed this one when it originally went past. But I’m sure I’m not the only one asking, “What’s a Chacho?” Turns out Chachos are regular Original Recipe Chicken Tenders topped elaborately with Nacho Cheese Sauce, diced Tomatoes, Jalapeños, Sour Cream, and Chives. KFC playfully refers to the dish as its take on Chicken Nachos, using real Chicken instead of Tortilla Chips. They’re available by themselves or as a member of several limited time combos.
Taco Bell testing new Grande Burritos
If you’re in Oklahoma City over the next few weeks, stop in at a participating Taco Bell and try their two new Grande Burritos. The New Loaded Taco Burrito features The Bell’s signature Seasoned Ground Beef, Lettuce, reduced fat Sour Cream, Cheddar Cheese, Red Tortilla Strips. The Chipotle Chicken Grande Burrito features Seasoned Rice, Shredded Chicken, and Chipotle Sauce. Like their limited-time predecessor, the original Loaded Taco Burrito that premiered in 2017, they go for (US)$1 apiece.
Chick-Fil-A revives three favourites
The Smokehouse BBQ Bacon Sandwich starts with a ‘Sweet Yeast Bun’ and a Grilled Chicken Breast, topped with Colby-Jack Cheese, Leaf Lettuce, Brown Sugar-Pepper Bacon and Smokehouse BBQ Sauce. The Peach Shake is an old-school treat based on Vanilla Soft Serve with Peach chunks blended in, topped with Whipped Cream and a Maraschino Cherry. The Strawberry Passion Tea Lemonade mixes Chick-fil-A Lemonade with Unsweetened Iced Tea and Natural Strawberry and Passionfruit Juice. Hello, summer!
Arby’s brings back summer favourites
Say, “Welcome back,” to Arby’s Pecan Chicken Salad Sandwich, The Ultimate Triple Decker Club and the Ultimate BLT! These seasonal favourites are all back for an unspecified limited time, now into the summer.
Reese’s Ice Cream Cakes now in supermarkets
They’re shaped like giant Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups with PB Frosting for a ‘crust’ and topping, filled with Chocolate Ice Cream with a layer of real PBN Cup Chunks in the middle and a drizzle of Hershey’s Chocolate on top. They’re priced at (US)$15 and are designed to serve 8.
Pringle’s poses a mystery
It’s a Mystery Flavour version of Pringle’s Chips, and it’s available for a limited time only at Wallgreen’s Drugs across the U.S. The Chips are available through July 30 and the contest that goes with them is open until August 13. The Canadian version of the contest, run last year, featured a real poser that turned pout to be 7-Layer Dip flavour…
