Essential Cooking Techniques: ‘Cooking 101’

I’ve just been put wise to a fact that I’d overlooked until now: many new readers of this daily column are also new to cooking. And they may have missed out on some of my very early posts under the umbrella heading ‘Cooking 101’. Here’s a guide to a whole list of basic cooking techniques…

we’ve explored over the years here at Maggie J’s Fab Food Blog…

Way back in the beginning – more than 1,500 posts ago – I posted regularly under the ‘Cooking 101’, ‘Sauces 101’, ‘Festive Sides’, ‘Mediterranean Mysteries’, ‘Eastern Secrets’ and ‘Kitchen Safety’ banners. Taken together, those posts would probably constitute a Chef skills manual on their own.

How to find what you’re looking for…

There are several ways to get into the data stream. You can access any of the above sub-streams by searching for those headers in the Search by Theme drop-down menu at the right of your screen. You can also search for specific techniques or issues using site search, by clicking on the magnifying glass at the top right of your screen. And you can search by key word using site search, as well.
