KFC and Lays partner for Cheetos Sandwich
No, it’s not just Cheetos on a bun. It’s a Chicken Breast Sandwich topped with Cheetos and a new Cheetos Sauce (created by Lays, so it’s the real deal). Right now, it’s available only at participating outlets in Virginia, North Carolina and Georgia. If the Cheetos Chicken thing takes off – and it probably will – look for a second, Flamin’ Hot version to follow.
Cheese Purists will applaud arrival of new Cheetos
After all this time on the market, and all the acclaim folks have heaped on Cheetos, they’ve finally decided to cater to Cheese Purists with a new White Cheddar flavoured snack. White Cheddar Bites are not long and squirrelly like regular Orange Cheetos, but short and fat, and they’re dusted with a Cheese flavoured powder that doesn’t stain like regular Cheetos’ coating does. To be fair, they’re not the first foray into White Cheese that Cheetos has made, but they may be the best yet.
Taco Bell brings back two Cheesy, Saucy favourites
The Bell reintroduced Nacho Fries this past week, to the delight of Fry-dipping fans. They’re also brought back their infamous Double Cheesy Gordita Crunch, with double the Meat and Cheese of the regular CGC. You can also get the the Double Cheesy Gordita Crunch in a new (US)$5 Box deal along with two regular Crunchy Tacos and a Medium Drink.
Krispy Kreme talks Valentine’s Day
The Doughnut giant is offering special ‘Conversation Donuts’ for Valentine’s Day. They’re cute little heart-shaped Cream-filled puffies decorated in one of four colours with a different flavour of Cream for each, and topped with messages such as ‘PICK ME’, ‘CRAZY 4 YOU’ and ‘SAY YES’. Just the thing if you’re mourning the absence of Sweet Heart’s Candies for Valentine’s this year. I wonder if Krispy Kreme asked Spangler’s, the makers of SweetHearts, if they could use their messages? Can you say ‘lawsuilt’?
Dunkin’s does Valentine’s, too
Dunkin’s has a selection of special Doughnuts for Valentine’s Day, as usual. Along with limited edition heart-shaped filled Doughnuts they have a selection of Regular Doughnuts with new ‘Bling’ Frosting in Strawberry, Chocolate and Vanilla. But the Pièce de Résistance is a new square Cookie Dough & Brownie Double Filled Donut topped with Chocolate Frosting and Crushed Peanuts. A meal in itself?
Sonic brings back decadent OREOs
The classic American drive-in is offering classic Deep Fried OREOs for Valentine’s Day. The decadent treat is, specifically, Deep Fried OREO’s À La Mode, because your order of served with a side of Soft Serve. You can also get Cinnabon Cinnasnacks Snacks À La Mode, also for a limited time.
Wings expected to rule Super Bowl menus
The U.S. National Chicken Council estimates that Americans will consume 1.38 billion Wings on Super Bowl Sunday. That’s four for every person in the country, including infants and the elderly. Enough to go round the world three times if they were all laid end to end. And all on one day. I wonder how many wings Americans consume in a full year?
