McDonald’s adds what’s been missing from your Big Mac

Remedying an omission that many fans have remarked upon over the years, McDonald’s says it will soon make available a version of its signature Big Mac with Bacon. The Big Mac Bascon will launch the end of this month, featuring all the stuff you’ve come to love in a BM plus three pieces of Applewood Smoked Bacon on the top Patty. Other limited time offerings starting at the same time include the much talked about Cheesy Bacon Fries and the new made-to-order Bacon Quarter Pounder.

Impossible Burger 2.0 coming

The folks who pioneered the commercialization of the Veggie Protein Burger Patty have announced a new, improved version will begin shipping to all current commercial customers and supermarkets soon. While consumers gave the original Impossible Burger high marks for flavour and its similarity in all respects to Beef, the new version gets even closer, according to taste testers. It’s gluten-free, contains iron and protein levels comparable to beef, is cholesterol free, has 9 grams less fat, and 50 fewer calories than a standard 80/20 beef patty of the same weight.

Pizza Hut adds new Vegan option

The Hut is adding what it calls the Vegan Jack ‘N’ Ch**se to its Vegetarian menu. The pie features a non-dairy Cheese alternative, Tomato Sauce, BBQed Jackfruit (a relative of Figs, Mulberries and Breadfruit), Sweet Corn, Red Onions, Peppers and BBQ sauce. For now, it’s a limited time menu item, but the Hut says it will make the Vegan Jack ‘N’ Ch**se a permanent addition if at last 10,000 pies are sold by the end of this month. Alas, Veggie lovers: this creative Pizza is only available in the UK this time around…

Firehouse Subs launches Spicy Cajun Chicken

The new Sub features Cajun-seasoned grilled Chicken, Cherry Peppers, Pepper Jack Cheese, and Cajun Mayo, served hot on a toasted roll. This limited time 25th Anniversary Special can be further ‘heated up’ by adding any of Firehouse’s 25 free Sauces.

Dunkin’s teams Cold Brew Coffee with ‘Power Breakfast’ Sammy

This’ll open your eyes, if you’re having a hard time getting up to speed in  the morning! The Sandwich tops a Turkey Sausage Patty with an Egg White Omelet (incorporating Spinach and Onions) and a slice of American (Processed) Cheese. The beverage is a large glass of Energy Cold Brew, which is billed as regular Cold Brewed Coffee with a shot of Espresso. Dunkin’s is also bring back, for a limited time, 2018 favourites the Brown Sugar Chipotle Bacon Breakfast Sandwich and the Caramel Chocoholic Donut.

Denny’s serves up new ‘Slam-pler’

The new Super Slam-pler – which includes French Toast, Baco, Eggs and a pair of signature Buttermilk Pancakes – is just one of the limited-time offerings available this month. The Ooh, La, La Omelet ‘sub-menu’ contains four varieties of Fluffy Eggs: the New Wild West Omelette, the New Greek Garden Omelette, the New Sunny-Topped Omelette, and The Big Cheese Omelette (a three-Egg monster). Denny’s fans will be thrilled!

Doritos boards Flamin’ Hot bandwagon

Leveraging the abiding popularity of its iconic Corn Chips, Doritos is taking a leap into the fire launching Flamin’ Hot Nacho flavoured crunchables. Heat fans are lauding the combo as ‘a match made in Heaven’. (Though the other place is usually associated with flames…) Nevertheless, they should be out there, at all the usual sources, by next week.

And that’s the cream of the crop…

…Of this past week’s new fast Food sector announcements. ‘Enjoy sensibly’, and remember your New Year’s resolutions!
