Here we are again, running down the week’s top stories from the Fast Food World. It’s (almost) all about the holidays this week, with mouthwatering menu announcements from IHOP, Pringles and McDonald’s. And KFC tempts your sweet tooth with an encore performance by its Chicken and Waffles…

KFC goes national with Fried Chicken & Waffles

Finally… KFC has rolled out its ooey, gooey good Fried Chicken and Waffles across the U.S. The confection features the Colonel’s Extra Crispy Chicken on a bed of Belgian-Style Waffles, topped with Mrs. Butterworth’s (famous?) Pancake Syrup. There’s also a sandwich version, which places a Honey-Sauced Chicken Breast between two Belgian Waffles, in place of conventional Buns. Both menu items are available through the end of the year

IHOP unveils Holiday menu

It’ll be a green Christmas at IHOIP this year. The holiday menu is themed after Dr. Seuss’s The Grinch That Stole Christmas. Headlining that menu is massive Omelet named The Who Roast Beast. It’s a BBQ-flavoured creature stuffed with Shredded Beef, Hash Browns, Jalapeños, Monterey Jack, Cheddar, and Onions, and topped with Shredded Cheese, a Serrano Pepper, and a  drizzle of BBQ sauce. Those with a less-hearty appetite can order Grinch Green pancakes topped with Cream Cheese Icing, Candy Hearts and a swirl of Green Whipped Topping.

Pringles releases Holiday Edition Chip selection

Pringles has done this before, as a test, and it was a big hit. The Thanksgiving Dinner Selection  includes 8 different Chip flavours including: Turkey, Stuffing, Mashed Potatoes, Mac & Cheese, Creamed Corn, Pumpkin Pie, Cranberry Sauce, and Green Bean Casserole. Thoise who’ve tried them say not all of the flavours will probably appeal to all diners, but it’s a quirky selection made for sharing, so… Two catches: The Thanksgiving Dinner Pringles box is not available in stores. You have to go to the Kellogg’s Online Store to order. And the item is just a few cents shy7 of (US)$15. Better get there fast – the Turkey Dinner selection sold out in record time dsuring the test!

McDonald’s brings back Peppermint Mocha for holidays

Chocolate and Peppermint define the Holiday Sweets landscape for some folks, and, for them, McD’s has brought back its Peppermint Mocha, albeit for a limited time. Peppermint Chocolate Sauce is stirred into Steamed Whole or Non-Fat Milk which is added to McD’s Espresso. The beverage is topped with Whipped Cream and a drizzle of Chocolate Sauce. Get a Small Peppermint Mocha for just (US)$2 for a very limited time.

Pasta Chips are back at Olive Garden

Olive Garden débuted its signature Pasta Chips earlier this year to much fanfare and some acclaim. Now, they’re back partnered with a new Lasagna Dip. This bountiful bowlful consists of layers of Cheese and Meat Sauce, topped with Smoked Mozzarella, and then baked. I’ll bet you could make this one at home easily enough, and it would be a star at any Holiday Gathering you might have in mind!

Wendy’s keys in on Dave’s Foundation

Wendy’s is selling (US)$2 Frosty Key Tags from now until, the end of January, 2019, in support of founder Dave Thomas’ Foundation for Adoption. The tags entitle the bearer to a free small Frosty with any purchase through the end of next year. The Foundation is, ‘a national, nonprofit public charity dedicated exclusively to finding permanent homes and loving families for the more than 150,000 children waiting in North America’s foster care systems.” As you may have guessed, Dave, himself, was adopted.

And that’s the Skinny…
