delivery any fresher than that!

Today is National Sandwich Day!

Most of the major chains are participating, but do check out your local Sammy Shop for commemorative specials, as well. Better yet, make some elaborate, mouthwatering, stomach-busting Sandwiches of your own! You can start with Breakfast Sandwiches that take your fave resto chain versions to new heights. Okay… Now, get out there and put something delicious between two slices of Bread!

Pizza Hut takes ‘fresh’ to new extremes

Okay. It’s only a concept vehicle, but the Hut has built the ultimate Pizza delivery truck – a heavily modified Toyota Tundra pickup that not only delivers your Pie but makes it on the way. The truck was unveiled at the 2018 Specialty Equipment Marketing Association Show (SEMA). As soon as an order comes in, robots place a pre-made ‘raw’ pie in an onboard oven which bakes the Pizza in 6-7 minutes, on the roll. By the time it reaches your door, it’s sliced and boxed. Pizza Hut says the truck can service a designated delivery area for hours, limited only by how much Pizza it can carry in its onboard fridge. Not an every-day reality yet, this new concept seems to be a serious Hut priority for the future.

Sonic launches substantial Double Stack

Sonic is upping its Burger Ante with the temporary addition to its menu of a new Quarter Pound Double Stack Cheeseburger. The big bite features twin regular Beef Patties nestled with Grated Cheddar Cheese and Cheddar Cheese Cause, topped with Mustard, Mayo, crinkle-cut Dill Pickles and grilled Onions on a toasted Brioche Bun. There’s also a Super Sonic version that features two Quarter Pound Patties. Both are available for a limited time only.

White Castle brings back Turkey Sliders for the Holidays

White Castle, the original Burger franchise (opened in 1921, 32 yeas before the first McDonald’s franchise) is a a fixture in the U.S. West. And it’s unique among the big chains in as much as it’s fame derives largely from it’s famous Sliders, rather than the ever-bigger Burgers offered by competing chains. Now, fans will be glad to hear that White Castle’s beloved Turkey Sliders are back for the Holiday season. They come in two varieties: the Bistro Turkey Slider, in which the Turkey Burger Patty is topped with Bistro Sauce and served on a steamed Slider Bun; and the Cheddar Apple Butter Turkey Slider, which features the same Butterball Turkey Patty topped with Smoky Cheddar Cheese and Cinnamon Apple Butter. They’re (US)$0.99 apiece, or (US)$7.99 for a 10-Slider ‘sack’, including two Bistros, six Original Sliders and a whack of Sweet Potato Fries. Now, that’s a deal!

McDonald’s brings back Pumpkin Pie for Fall

There’s been a fair amount of controversy among McD’s devotées lately over the reinvention of its Apple Pie as a healthier, lighter dessert, but none of the stigma rubs off on the chain’s Pumpkin Pie, which is back for Fall. However, they are baked rather than fried, like their updated Apple cousins. It’s only natural that they should get a CInnamon Sugar garnish on top.

Starbuck’s débuts Holiday Beverage roster

Starbuck’s is noted for its seasonal beverage offerings and this end-of-year holiday season is no exception. The limited-time special menu features: Toasted White Chocolate Mocha, Peppermint Mocha, Caramel Brulée Latte, Chestnut Praline Latte, Gingerbread Latte and Eggnog Latte. All selections are available hot, iced or as a Frappuccino. And all come in one of Starbuck’s new ‘2018 Collection’ Holiday Cups.

And that’s the skinny…

…On what’s making some of us a little fatter these days. Tune in again in seven for the next edition of Fast Food Week!
