How to become a McDonald’s poster model…

Kids troll McD’s with bogus poster

Jevh Maravilla, a student at the University of Houston, and his friend Christian Toledo trolled a McDonald’s location near them in a very creative way and made a point about inclusiveness at the same time. They noticed there were no Asian people depicted in McDonald’s advertising and, both of them being of Asian extraction, they decided to ‘fix’ that. They held a photo shoot at a campus building that looked, from the outside, like most McDonald’s stores. Then, they did some Photoshop magic to hype it up a bit à la McDonald’s decor. One of the guys even went out and bought a McDonald’s uniform and pretended to supervise his friends as they put up the poster on a blank wall at the McD’s dining room. In broad daylight. And nobody at the resto noticed. After 51 days it was still there, and Maravilla finally tweeted about the prank. We don’t know if McD’s left the poster up…

McD’s tests new McFlurry in Florida

The Stroopwaffle is a traditional Dutch treat described as a caramel-flavoured cross between a Waffle and a Cookie, and, now, McD’s has begun blending chunks of it into a regular Vanilla McFlurry. The concoction is actually a really popular menu item in the Netherlands already and McD’s hopes it will catch on in North America, too. Among other international dishes being tested are: BBQ McShaker Fries from Malaysia, a McSpicy Chicken Sandwich from Hong Kong, and Spain’s Grand McExtreme Bacon Burger, served with Gouda Cheese and a special McBacon Sauce.

BK has brought back its Two-for-$10 deal

What goes around, they say, comes around. And that’s true for the popular Two-for-$10 deal at Burger King. Even better, the list of Sandwiches available under the deal has been expanded to include not only he Whopper, but also the Crispy Chicken Sandwich, and Spicy Crispy Chicken Sandwich. The deal gets you any two Sandwiches, to small Fries and two small Drinks.

Starbuck’s launches new Italian-style Coffee

The Cordusio is billed as homage to Milan, where the first Starbuck’s in Italy has just opened – in the city’s Piazza Cordusio. The beverage is described as a blend of Espresso, Steamed Milk, Mocha Sauce, and Cocoa Powder. Coffee fans will no doubt notice a close resemblance to Milan’s signature Coffee style, Barbagliata, which consists of Cocoa-infused Espresso and Cream.

DQ changes up seasonal Blizzard menu

For a limited time, Dairy Queen is offering a new slate of seasonal Blizzard flavours: Dipped Strawberry made with Ghirardelli Chocolate and Strawberry Topping, Oreo Hot Cocoa featuring pieces of Oreo Cookies and Cocoa Fudge, Snickerdoodle Cookie Dough adding Cinnamon Sugar to Snickerdoodle Cookie Dough chunks, and Reese’s Outrageous combining Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, Reese’s Pieces, Peanut Butter and Caramel. This last one is being held over by popular demand from last month, when it was first introduced.

Krispy Kreme brings back Chocolate Glazed Doughnuts

The iconic Doughnut  maker will bring back Chocolate Glazed regular Yeast Doughnuts on Fridays only, while supplies last. Just goes to show you can’t keep a fan favourite down!

Pizza Hut offers hot NFL deal

As you probably recall, Pizza Hut was named official Pizza of the NFL after the Pap John’s controversy resulted in the cancellation of that chain’s pro football promo contract for this season. Now, The Hut is offering a great deal for the entire NFL season: A large two-topping Pizza for just (US)$7.99. And this deal is available on delivery as well as pick-up orders, unlike other, previous Hut offers.

And that’s the skinny…

…On what just make some of us fat this week. See you right back here in seven for the next installment of Fast Food Week!
