Fast Food Week!

I have stumbled through the past week in a daze. Computer problems and other issues have limited my research time, and I must admit that, heading into compiling this weekly compendium of Fast Food News, I am flying blind. SO, hold on, folks… Here we go!

Okay, KFC! Let’s get the silliness over with first!

KFC is celebrating mid-January with three new cocktails – that’s right; cocktails – which you have to make at home because KFC locations (as far as I know) are not licensed to serve alcohol. The single feature uniting these concoctions is that they all rely on the overwhelming presence of KFC Gravy. It’s a thinly-veiled attempt to cash in on the recent trend (I say fad) of using meat broths in real, bar-top cocktails. There are three KFC cocktails: Finger Lickin’ Sour, Gravy Mary, and Southern Twist. If you really, really want to try ’em, pay close attention to the video, above…

‘Afternoon delight’ at Dunkin’s

From now until February 25, you can get a medium hot or iced Latté for just $2, between 2pm an 6 pm. At the same time, you can get two Egg-And-cheese Wake-Up Wraps for $2. Dang! They’re trying to get me to come in twice a day!

Krispy Kreme invites you to weigh in on their next flavour…

Krispy Kreme is holding a contest to determine their next new Glazed Doughnut flavour. Choose between blueberry, caramel, lemon, and maple. Make your voice heard at the KK website. The new flavour that customers elect will be available starting later in the spring…

BK goes head-to-head with McD’s with new burger…

Burger King is launching a new Double Quarter Pound King in direct opposition to McDonald’s new-ish Double Quarter Pounder with Cheese. Yah, we always knew the real war over Burger Territory would be fought with the multi-patty, big-Meat weapons. I guess the only question is, whose Burger Patty flavour do you  prefer?

Arby’s offers two items for $5 through mid-February

You’ll be able to order any two of the following for just $5 (or $6, depending on your location):

  • Buffalo Chicken Tenders (3 pieces)
  • Loaded Curly Fries
  • Classic Roast Beef Sandwich
  • Crispy Fish Sandwich
  • Classic Beef ‘N Cheddar Sandwich

Sounds like a good, solid, reasaonable alternative to the head-to-head Burger wars!

Pizza Hut copies Dominos deal…

Five bucks! Five bucks! Five Bucks! Pizza Hut is giving Dominos the ultimate compliment: Copying its infamous $5.99 Pizza deal. Now ’til further notice, you can get any medium two-topping Pizza for just $5.99, when you buy two or more. Now, Domino’s is also offering menu items as part of its deal, but if you’re a Hut fan, that won’t draw you away from your main chew…

And those are the biggest headlines on the Fast Food Beat this week… Sit back with a KFC gravy cocktail and contemplate those two-for-? deals!
