Fast Food Week!

This week, as you might expect, we have a whole parade of Holiday Menu ‘special’ announcements, not the least of which come from McDonalds, Chipotle’s and Buffalo Wild Wings. Arby’s, which recently bought BWW, is also reported to be testing something called The Arbynator…

Chipotle’s launches new Queso Sauce, gives away samples

Chipotle’s has had more than it’s share of bad luck and bad publicity this year. The company’s stock plummeted after a series of food poisoning cases at several of its outlets and business dropped off alarmingly. But it’s working hard to make a comeback and one step[ it’s taken is to launch a new ‘improved’ Queso Sauce. And Chipotle’s is giving away samples to prove its point. But iot’s olnl;y for one day, December 12, and you have to wear your ‘cheesiest’ holiday sweater and purchase an entrée. How badly do you want that free sample?

Mc D’s Dollar Menu unmasked!

McD’s will once again offer a Dollar Menu, starting January 4, 2018. We gave you early notice of that in  this space a week or so ago. But, now we know, for sure, what’s on the menu: For one dollar, you can get a breakfast Burrito, a McChicken, a Cheeseburger or any size soft drink. For two dollars, you can get a Sausage McGriddle, Buttermilk Crispy Tenders, a Bacon McDouble or a small McCafé beverage. For three dollars, you can get a Sausage McMuffin, a Classic Chicken Sandwich, a Triple Cheeseburger or a Happy Meal. They call it a Dollar Menu, but the way I add it up, it’ll still cost you at least $5 to pout together a meal.

Buffalo Wild Wings holiday menu features giant Pretzel

It’s a liberally-salted tray-filling pretzel served with a big side of Mustard Dipping Sauce. And it’s just the start of the chain’s holiday offerings, including an All-Star Sampling Platter, a Southwest Philly Sandwich, the Big Daddy Jack Burger, Crispy Jumbo Shrimp and Fried Pickles – plus a couple of seasonal Dipping Sauces, a special Goose Island Pale Ale and a Whiskey flavoured with BWW’s Mango Habernero Sauce.

Red Lobster celebrates the season with new Surf ‘n Turf menu

Red Lobster is not really a Fast Food joint, but they are a chain and, as such, qualify for exposure in this space. Their holiday Surf ‘n Turf menu includes six different match-ups of Steak and Seafood, spanning the spectrum from Lobster to Scallops to Shrimps to Crab. Surf ‘n Turf lovers, this is your big chance!

Behold: The Arbynator!

Arbys is now test-marketing a new mega-burger it calls The Arbynator. The thing is really just a large Arby’s bun topped with squirts of Arby’s Sauce and Horsey Sauce, a stack of Roast Beef, Curly Fries and a generous ladle of Cheddar Cheese Sauce. It comes in three sizes: Classic, Double and Half-Pound. Is it mere coincidence that Wendy’s offered The Baconator recently?

BK Bacon King Jr. ‘big taste in  a small package’

The new Jr., aimed at smaller appetites, is virtually just a downsized Bacon King with smaller patties on a smaller Bun. On that bun you’ll find: two flame-grilled Beef Patties, thick-cut Bacon, two slices of American Cheese, Ketchup, and Mayo. The Jr. is priced about $1.50 less than the full-sized Bacon King, but it’s still $2 more than the similar Bacon Cheeseburger

Baskin Robbins brings back a holiday favourite…

For some folks, Christmas isn’t Christmas without York Peppermint Patties. And BR is bringing back its exclusive York Peppermint Patty ice cream as a tribute. It’s the flavour of the month for December. You can get it by the scoop, in a Warm Brownie Sundae, in a milkshake, or in a Cappuccino Blast.

And that’s the cream of the Fast Food crop for this week… Happy Holidays!
